So bike, much question, , amaze. (Aprilia RS125 noob)

I swapped my Yamaha Xt125r for one of these today, its an early 2006 model, last of the old shape apparently, I have only ridden it for 3/4 miles but was wondering how would I be able to tell if it has the Rave power valve fitted or do all the older bikes have it? I know about the ignition retardation fix cutting the hole in CDI, I am just wanting to know if I need to spend money on the full power kit or can i just remove washer from exhaust, sort CDI and rejet carb? I would have thought that it would all have been done by now but as its pissing down I cant really check. Any advice would be gratefully received.

How to tell if you have a rave/pv fitted?
Ride the bloody thing! If it takes off at 8000rpm & keeps going to 12000rpm &your hitting 85mph in 5th then its de-restricted properly.
Or if that scares you, lift the fuel tank. Your looking for a small cylindrical solenoid, wires at 1 end with a cable at the other. This goes to the front of the cylinder to pull the pv blade.
you might need to move the battery to follow the cable down.
lastly, look at what cdi & rave controller you have. Its all under rear seat.

when you take the washer of the exhaust you could shine a torch into the exhaust port and see if you can see the blades.

Under the tank on the inside of the r/h frame rail there is the solenoid for the valve. Has 2 wires going to it and a cable from it to the housing above the exhaust.

There should be a control unit hidden under the pillion seat. It will probably have the number 7800 on it in white paint (the rpm it opens at).

The housing above the exhaust / under the battery should cover the end of the actual power valve blade.

On a restricted bike the housing above the exhaust will just be a flat plate with 3 bolts through it (2 to hold it on, one to hold the valve blank). In this case the valve is replaced with a blanking piece which is a bit longer.

Note that the valves stick easily if used at low speed a lot. It is probably well worth taking the blade out and giving it a thorough clean. Also check that it is in the right way up (the end that goes into the engine is cut at about 45 degrees, this should be horizontal NOT vertical).
