What Cloud providers do you use to backup your files? I've just about run out of space on Dropbox and Google Drive, so I'm considering paying for a service, but would seek recommendations.

Yes I can Google it but it's not the same as a personal recommendation.

How much space do you use/need? For convenience I too use Dropbox and Google Drive, if I needed more I'd look at upgrading to Dropbox Pro.

At this point in time probably around 50GB for the next year, but photos are getting bigger and bigger in size as cameras get better and better. Dropbox is my favourite provider as they provide a Linux client, however it's £8 a month for 1TB (bit overkill imo) vs £1.60 a month for Amazon, but no Linux client.

I pay for OneDrive, it was the best value and met my needs. Google Drive was 2nd but there was something that put me off, maybe file size limitation?

OneDrive and iOS isn't great, fine on Android though :S.

I use it for backing up pictures,

Phone to Onedrive
Ondrive to Home Server
Home Server to OneDrive (then I get the proper camera pics backed up)

That pretty much fills my £1.99 100GB subscription, on the verge of moving to 200GB.

Had dropbox, free with my Samsung, fine, flawless with iOS and Android but to expensive.

Just got 100Gb free Google Drive with my HTC, not used yet.

I use Google Drive at work as people are obsessed with Google Docs, I've now mounted my Desktop and Docs on my MacBook as Google Drive folders for backup reasons.

So far I can't say I've seen much difference between the 3, but there was a reason for choosing OneDrive as said earlier.

I've not checked yet, but I will laugh til I choke and die if there's a OneDrive Linux client; given that there is no Google Drive client Laughing

Edit: Still here, no Linux client.

Mega seem to offer the 50GB for free at this point in time, but past that the pricing looks... well, not as good value as others. Confused

Good thinking and would work well except for the pragmatic issue of syncing between computers. Perhaps rsync or something but it starts to get a bit 'efforty'. Smile

Crashplan, multiplatform and good pricing and upload speeds aren't throttled. I have a bit over 2TB up there.

Was on Livedrive, but poor support, regular re-indexing needed (sometimes taking days) and throttled upload speeds.

Crashplan has been solid and rebuilding my server and moving the backup between them (re-syncing and re-indexing) have been easy.

Just read this about Google Photos...

Quote:
Google Photos gives you a single, private place to keep a lifetime of memories, and access them from any device. They’re automatically backed up and synced, so you can have peace of mind that your photos are safe, available across all your devices.

And when we say a lifetime of memories, we really mean it. With Google Photos, you can now backup and store unlimited, high-quality photos and videos, for free. We maintain the original resolution up to 16MP for photos, and 1080p high-definition for videos, and store compressed versions of the photos and videos in beautiful, print-quality resolution. I've subscribed to Dropbox but only on a monthly basis; as soon as Google sorts their act out I'll subscribe to theirs. Bounce!
