I though austerity meant trying to live within your means? I didn't realise it meant increasing spending. |
Nope

There is a difference between living within your means and living without un-necessary things and without comfort.
Austerity as a policy promoted by the Tories is not 'living within our means', it is ensuring the poorest in our society are not 'living in comfort'. You can be assured the richest in society wont be in the least bit affected.. ____________________ "I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me." But there are plenty of long term benefits recipients in our country who still seem to afford Sky TV, mobile phones, fags and booze. Are they not luxury items then? Surely we're not in austerity until those living off the state can only afford the necessary things required to exist?
We live in a country where the only people who can afford large families are either very wealthy or those who are apparently the poorest and expect the state to provide them a living. The balance is still wrong when some families are financially better off on state hand outs, than others who have to work for a living. State benefits should be a stop gap, a temporary helping hand, not a lifestyle choice. ____________________ TZR250 2MA road, TZR250 1KT road, TZR250 2MA race, TDR250, YZF-750R Boost colours.

If you mean that these huge money making machines that pay nothing into the system are doing nothing wrong because they are within the law, it's morally wrong for a lot of people and the Govt can end it by changing the law, or simplifying it......but choose not to. They see nothing wrong with a working couple not getting paid enough to pay for the basics but deem it fine for companies to exploit rediculous loop-holes and pay zero tax. It's corruption basically and it was circumstances similar to this - a corrupt government, bought out by and in collusion with big business.....along with the resentment stirred up by high unemployment amongst the younger generations and racial/ethnic tensions that was powerful enough to kick start the Arab Spring ____________________ Space Is Deep |
