Just type your details into a comparison website. The answer will be more accurate than any guess you'll get on here

The excess is the money you pay in the event of a claim. The higher excess you opt for, the lower premium!

At a guess, a 125 twist-and-go should set you back <£150 on insurance, however this is based on your age and the fact you have no riding experience. Your postcode, security and other factors will affect this too.

Try gocompare they ask if you have "provisional" or "full license" and the date of which it was obtained, since you already have your provisional then you can get an accurate insurance quote by entering some basic details.

As for the bike just enter the model, year etc and check the "not yet purchased" box.

Worth noting that the excess only applies to your own claim rather than that of a third party. That is to say that if you hit a third party and damage their vehicle there would be no excess for you to pay unless your vehicle is damaged at the same time and you're actually claiming for it (assuming you can claim for it, that is, ie you've got comprehensive insurance)

Also worth noting that sometimes sticking a higher excess in will increase the premium not lower it, despite that being against common sense. Always best to quote multiple options just in case

www.thebikeinsurer.co.uk generally turns up decent quotes for me.

I don't think anyone fully understands insurance quotes. But if you have a full car license, this may knock a little off. Age is generally a plus (up to a point?) and I reckon you should be able to get third party, fire and theft for less than a couple of hundred. Maybe much less. Fully comp will likely be well inside of £300. I'm with Swinton on TP, F&T and probably paying a touch more than I should be as I did not shop around properly before renewal. Works out at about £180ish from memory.

Increasing the excess doesn't always make a positive difference to the quote as well. in fact, I've heard of it resulting in an increased premium.

I'm 31. Same boat. I pay £126, I think (in the PE4 Peterborough area). But regardless of what 125 scooter I chose, Bennets always quoted the same price. Coincidence? Dunno. Maybe because they were all 125 scooters and just fell in to the same insurance band.

NO-ONE understands 'Insurance'.. its like women.
If you even get CLOSE to understanding it... they just change the rules!
You are not meant to comprehend... just obey.. sorry, that's women...
You are not meant to understand.. just PAY... actually THAT could be women too!
Its SUPPOSED to be beyond comprehension; you are just supposed to open your wallet; do as you are told; sweat a bit over what the right answer might be, and hope for the best! Like I said.. like women!
As for how much.. well... bit like women again.,. but at your age, for a scooter, 'relatively' not too much... is about as close as I can offer!

42 here, 1 years NCB, full licence, ER6f 650cc full comp with cover to ride other bikes, £137
Still a bit pricey compared to what I pay to insure my car with full no claims but otherwise not bad price.
To compete with that my bike insurance would need to be about £74
