I have a Superdream of lovelyness
I refurbished the existing caliper and master cylinder + put modern pads in it, and I can smoke the front tyre if I really want to.
The existing caliper is fine if it is set up right ____________________ I am the sum total of my own existence, what went before makes me who I am now! |

Put a 400N front end on, then you can have brakes that are twice as wooden ____________________ Things get better with age; I'm close to being magnificent........

Primarily because I stuck a wacking 3 cylinder diesel in it. Another reason it would be nice to have better brakes
now that I would like to see, post up a picture please.
also post a picture of your cracked caliper please. you know that they bolt together?
twin disc 400 is a much better brake ( solid caliper hydraulic unit part, slide caliper as 250 but done a different way, the bike is better as well from memory so needs better brakes )
riding a wet dream 250 sure improves your riding skills as everything is planned well in advance from memory.
as to locking the front wheel? and smoking tyres? on a wet dream?? 400 perhaps but 250, not on this planet mate! unless you have a servo fitted.
ps you can never be in a hurry on a 250 wet dream, a 400 on the other hand!? ____________________ nuts about bikes |

The caliper I tried was a Ducati 600SS caliper, same spacing, and the offset from the disk looked right too, but the caliper was too thick and the inside of the caliper hit the wheel |
My CB250 is also 65mm and it has a two pot sliding caliper which can haul the bike up quite well with Nissin pads in it, which have proven to be better than EBCs.
I have been through a similar search, the lovely four pot Brembos will never fit but the CB250 Two Fifty caliper (or its carrier and a similar Nissin caliper from whatever, mine's from an NC29) and the old CBX250RS/GB250 caliper will also fit. There are a lot of lovely-looking YZF-R125 Brembo calipers floating around but the bolt hole spacing for those is 63mm, not quite right.
The real problem with these newer calipers though is that they probably won't sweep the whole disc, so you'll just wear a bit of it out. Not sure what you could do about it.. ____________________ 1994 CB250, 1984 CBX250RS-E, 1989 K100RS, 1995 TRX850, 2016 Z250SL |

| alexanderfitu wrote: | What year is your CB250?
There are lots of CBR250 front brake calipers that look like they would fit too?
NC29 comes up as a CBR400RR? |
Mine is a 1994, but calipers are rare for them because the very outer lip that holds the dust seal in place can be broken quite easily, meaning the dust seal is pointless. When mine started leaking I replaced it with the CBR400RR item but kept the CB250 carrier as the NC29 carrier has differently spaced holes. The caliper itself is a generic Nissin item, also used on Mk1 Bandit 600Ns and a load of other stuff.
There are also the older style Nissin two pots that were on eighties CBR600s and other such things, but I don't know the bolt spacing of those. They may sweep more of the disc though?
I did look into the CBR250R calipers but couldn't find any that were near my budget, but back then they had only recently come out. The ABS version even has three pistons which you could all hook up to the front master cylinder for extra weird three pot stoppers. The Suzuki Burgman I think also uses those calipers. Again, I am not sure on the bolt spacing for these.. ____________________ 1994 CB250, 1984 CBX250RS-E, 1989 K100RS, 1995 TRX850, 2016 Z250SL |

Do not like them... to think the cbr250RR was only a couple years later
Very nice engine swap
Many, many bikes use the Nissin two pot callipers. CBR600 F3's, CBR400's, CBR250RR's - all the same calliper.
If you want a newish right calliper, the new CBR250's are the same (and I have one on my RR, was a few on ebay from 0 mile bikes) |
