Hi
my son has come home with a speedfight 2 that wont start, it has a spark and if i squirt fuel straight down the carb opening (airbox off) and turn it over with a drill on the crank it will run for a few seconds, im not knowledged up on newer bikes with all the electronics so would you say i am looking at a carb issue or is there possibly another underlying electical problem
thanks in advance dave

Why you using a drill to start it - whast up with the kick/ starter motor?

Battery voltage?

Fuel blockage/ fuel pump issue?

usual problem solving -

Do you have a spark?
Do you have compression?
Do you have fuel getting through?

then follow up from there

yes spark is there, compression is there and appears to be fuel there but nothing unless i physically squirt fuel through the carb, thats why im wondering if theres some other electrical component stopping the thing bursting into life

so that looks like fuel then.

Is it coming out of the tap? pull the fuel line off the carb to check it is getting through - check tap on/off working

Check there is fuel in the float bowl. Check the float, check the carb fuel valve. Check the needle or jets haven't fallen out

If all that looks ok, drain the fuel and put some fresh in

ok thanks, definitely fuel getting to the carb, will pull the carb out and give it a good fettle, just wasnt sure if there was some electric trickery on these to stop the fuel

""""" just wasnt sure if there was some electric trickery on these to stop the fuel"""""
It could have an electric choke.

Have you checked the starter button itself? Sometimes dirt/other road nasties get inside which causes it not to connect.

check the timing, if the electrics get wet on these things the cdi can get spiked and they fire at the wrong point, you can also spike it reversing the battery terminals or using a non resistor spark plug
