When braking on the rear brake at very slow speeds and turning, there is a strange short, repeating squeek/squeal and i cant figure out what it is. Has only happened since i stripped the front end off and put a new rear disk on.. Any ideas?

Thought it could be something warped and rubbing but weird it only happens with the bars turned!

Could it be some bearing on the way out? Headstock? Bearing or wheel bearing starting to give up the ghost?

Could be that the pads are catching slightly, and if there's a small amount of play in your rear wheel bearings, this will be noticeable when you turn.

Check the rear wheel bearings for excessive play, and the rear caliper as it may need stripping, cleaning, new seals, etc.

Also check that the pads are wearing evenly and squarely - i.e not forming themselves into a wedge shape, or one side wearing down more than the other.

The rear brakes squeal because the back of the brake pads reverberate with the piston. Obviouly in your case that happens only when applying slight side force on the wheel when turning.

That is annoying but a non probem if the pads are wearing evenly. You can ignore it or the way to cure that is:

1. Some pads have anti-squeal metal shims also including metal plate on the back.
2. Put some copper brake grease on the back or even better this one:

Cheers. Think ill check if wearing evenly. Its not annoying so could live with it if its not a problem
