No. your landlord will get the rent. In both instances, all you get is to continue living in the house. |
Most scumbags get paid the rent as part of Universal Credit, to make them more responsible with money.
They are then supposed to pay the Lettings company/landlord. Guess what most scumbags do with the cash?

i know how op feels
being off work with an injury was bad enough
we tried to get some help but the council doesn't even class the mortgage as an out going expense
according to them we had over 700 quid a month spare
my mortgage insurance wouldn't cover it as I was working for an agency as company only recruited through one ____________________ gilera runner vxr200 (chavped)

No, I just have several customers who are letting agents and have to deal with disappearing rent on a daily basis due to this ill thought out government scheme, designed to make scumbags more responsible with cash.
| Quote: | The housing costs element of Universal Credit (help with rent) goes direct to the tenant who has to arrange their own rent payments.
Some of your tenants may need help with managing their rent payments, dealing with the extra money coming into their account, and protecting the security of their home. |
Cutting the government bull, this is basically saying some scumbags will just blow the extra cash on drugs and hookers, rather than paying rent. It's a lot bigger problem than is being let on.

Ah, but they've got the latest version of the booke of excuses for why they can't pay the rent.
Never again!!
Although seeing them buying various 'how to successfully claim DLA' guides on the internet and then having their applications turned down was lulz. |

To be fair, it does remove the perverse incentive that landlords used to have to prefer spongers over workers, when the money used to come direct to them every month, safe as houses. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

I can only assume that the rent is guaranteed by the government or local authority, so we end up paying twice.
The DSS rental property around our way has had 3 sets of DSS tenants, the last 2 of which were both eventually evicted for not paying rent. The current tenants were threatened with eviction and To Let signs went up, but were taken down again after the parents of one stepped in and helped out. If the landlord really does lose out, you'd think he would have learnt his lesson after the first one or two.
From what people tell me at letting agents, once they have a couple of kids, they know that social services will have to find alternative accommodation before evicting them, so rent really can just be treated as an extra £800 ish (in our area) to spunk up the wall.
Whilst I'm sure not all DSS tenants behave like this, the 3 bed semi near to me seems to always find the same sort of tenants, young chavs with a couple of kids, who aren't responsible enough to be given cash to pass on to the letting agent. ____________________ TZR250 2MA road, TZR250 1KT road, TZR250 2MA race, TDR250, YZF-750R Boost colours.

Ignore paying rent, when you have a couple of nappy wearing benefits tokens and you only get evicted around 10-12 months down the line, into another free house. Fact not fiction btw. |
Actually that is a work of fiction.
It takes about 8 weeks to action an eviction, if the s21 or s8 is served correctly, for s8 its 8 weeks rent owning, which can be just over 4 weeks, depending if rent is due in advance etc
Once an order has been served, you can transfer to the high court and get an eviction the same / next day.
If the tenents are being evicted for rent arrears, the council has no obligation to house them, if a tennent doesn't pay the rent from the LHA, the landlord can apply to be paid direct, and the council is obligated to pay the landlord direct.
10 to 12 months for an eviction due to non payment of rent? Pull the other one. ____________________ ......................................................................... |

I'm going by what the letting agent told us. They sent letters to all other houses on the close, there were that many complaints. On both occasions, it took at least 8 months to move them on.
Any proof that the council will take the kids and throw the parents out on the streets, because that's not what happens according to the cases
that I know of?
Could it be that the tenants you're talking about are private tennants and not lifelong DSS? Do the social services not have a duty to house DSS then? ____________________ TZR250 2MA road, TZR250 1KT road, TZR250 2MA race, TDR250, YZF-750R Boost colours.

Yeah right. I suppose the landlords are all lying on the current Channel 5 program too? 8 weeks my arse. ____________________ TZR250 2MA road, TZR250 1KT road, TZR250 2MA race, TDR250, YZF-750R Boost colours.
