The bike ran fine up until Friday. Then, I disconnected and reconnected all of the connectors at the front of the bike to allow the front headlights and fairings which had been removed to be refitted. Now - won't start!

Turn on key, neutral and stand lights come on. They both go off as usual if a gear is engaged or stand goes up. Tested starter button and kill switch, and their connections back through the wiring, they both work.

But if I press the starter, nothing happens. If I try to bump start it, it won't start. So I reckon whatever circuit stops the starter and the ignition from operating, must be incomplete somehow.

Checked all the other connectors, can't find anything wrong/disconnected or obvious loose connections.

Where do i go from here? Like I said, all working fine until I disconnected and reconnected all the wiring plugs under the ignition/behind the headlights the other day.
Cheers

the ignition is totaly independent of the rest
so if the bike dont bumpstart the problem is elsewhere
the starter is directly connected to the battery but the relay isnt , check it , check if the black of the relay has 12V (with the ground)

Thanks,

OK - no voltage across the two small wires at the relay (no black wire there) when starter pressed.

Where next?

Neither of the small wires on the relay is connected to ground.
Which one should be?

I have green/white and red/yellow.

There in fact is a spark at the plug. Wouldn't bump start as no fuel. Different problem as alains said. So just need to get the starter turning now.

sorry about my mistake
the wires feeding the starter are RED & RED/WHITE
the starter coil are red/yellow & green/white
the red/yellow is the +entry and the green/white is the exit going to a ground through a diode for security
to test the relay : connect the entry to a + 12V and exit to the ground , you shoud hear the coil making a noise

Now solved this.

I'd plugged the 4 way connector for the headlights into the 4 way connector from the starter button. No wonder it wouldn't work.

I took it for granted that the connectors would all only fit back in the correct ones, like with most modern machinery, so a lesson learned I think.

Thanks for the help.
