My 07 Vivaro is doing my conkers in.
Its been running fine for the last 80k miles until last week. It had a total loss of power and the glow plug and service light came on.
My mate stuck it on his machine and it pointed to the turbo solenoid. £46 later it ran fine for about a day, then same thing.
The thing is, if you disconnect the solenoid, link the 2 vacuum pipes, it runs brilliant, but I have the warning lights back on the dash.
Any Vauxahall/Renault techy types who can help?

cheers in advance.

Factory solenoid or pattern part?

I would suspect a faulty replacement part, which is much more likely if it's not genuine.

My Astra had horrible issues with the vacuum stuff. So much so we bodged vacuum similar to how you have and covered the stupid light.

Not had experience with the Vivaro specifically but I'd check the easiest and cheapest things first.

Check vac pipes for splits / leaks.
Check EGR valve, could try just blanking it off for now, some you can blank off by just rotating it.
Clean MAF sensor.

If still no different I'd suspect your replacement solenoid.

My mate also had problems with his Vectra 2.0 Ecotec engine. The thing is, there are those very thin black plastic vacuum pipes and lines, that has to be in perfect condition, or the engine's gonna start coughing and acting up. Even a small leak can cause big issues. Thumbs Down

But as James says, I'd check the solenoid. I mean, that's the last part you touched before it got fecked up. Smile

Hi, thanks for the replies, Ive just ordered a new set of hoses to the solenoid and will try that next.
Dont really want to go down the blanking off the light route. Not really helpful when a proper fault shows up and you carry on driving?

cheers!

I work for Vauxhall HQ in Luton, let me know how you get on once you fit those hoses.
I sit with technical guys and know the techie guys in our dealer assistance team in Newcastle, we have a workshop on site and I know a few people in dealers too.

All that said, I'm not promising a solution, but will definitely ask around and help if I can. Thumbs Up

PS
Did he retrieve a specific fault code when he plugged it in?
P0***?
