 |
|
Any ideas how I can permanently remove weeds from my driveway? I don't give a shit about the environment so anything will do. I was told to use salt so I covered the driveway in it before going away on holiday expecting to have a completely weed free drive for coming home to, but more seem to have grown in the time I've been away.
Some of them are even so tall now that they are touching the bottom of the car when it gets moved in and out of the drive.
The weeds seem to vary in type and there are a lot of mossy, grassy type that I cannot remove by hand, and some of the other ones are so brittle that the stalks break before the root comes out. I have taken out the ones that I could (except the ones that have grown in the past 2 weeks).
Can someone suggest something? |

have a slabbed back garden that no weedkiller has ever kept clean for more than a month
as for moss a hi power jet wash ____________________ I have become comfortably numb

I dig out the ones i can, then get some weedol (the red one) from B and Q seems to do the trick.
Sometimes you need to spray the area and not just the weed itself, currently i have a concrete driveway and there is a join half way up, weeds love growing up in the gap however this stuff seems to have killed them off and no signs of coming back, that was about 4 weeks ago now. ____________________ The trick to life is to not get too attached to it......... |

Lift the gravel, put down a membrane, re-lay the gravel.
That is the only way to have a weed-free gravel drive.
Longer term weedkillers like Sodium Chlorate are effective for a while but you can't get that any more because it can also be used to make explosives.
So you're left with glyphosate which is a systemic weedkiller. It'll kill att the weeds it hits but you'll need to keep applying it every time fresh ones come up. Remember it kills weeds by making them outgrow their energy supply so they appear extra-lush a week after applying it, then go yellow and die. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. Look on the labels of anything in your house or products in your garage and if it says that it is carcinogenic , use that ____________________ I am the sum total of my own existence, what went before makes me who I am now! |

Yep, that rosate stuff linked by Woo will definitely do the trick, buy a cheap knapsack from eBay and mix up 5l at a go, and just apply as and when necessary.
The only thing it hasn't manage to completely kill is horsetail, but i don;t think anything will ever kill that. It kills the top growth but a week later is spawning fresh shoots from the same sections of root ____________________

Brick acid and a stiff broom are ideal for moss removal from render/concrete if you don't have access
to a power washer. ____________________ Currently enjoying products from Ford, Mazda and Yamaha
