The slightly older amongst us remember her for The Cilla Black Show in the 1970s, which as I recall was pretty good, and at least made a change from the Two Ronnies and Morcambe and Wise. What I liked was that she never stopped being a working class Liverpudlian, never tried to turn her self into a self important prima-donna.

Surprise Surprise and Blind Date would have been cringingly awful whoever had presented them, it's the knob-ends who produced them who deserve slating, not the person brave enough to front them.

Only ever sat in seat 1a (first class) on ba aircraft, would kick off if not available. Only ever drinks champagne in flight.
