Thanks Fizzer....someones picking me up some parts in Oz and I need to know the make of the Master Cylinder for the repair kit as apparently, they used two different types. I think the one I have may be a more modern replacement from....... I don't know. Weird though as it has a Suzuki "S" on it I want to go with the parts from OZ as they're rediculously cheap. They're from a Japanese eBay seller with good rep called "cruzinimage" who no longer posts to the UK. His carb kits are about £20...for 3 sets ____________________ Space Is Deep |

I think the problem's solved, someone on the kettle club has told me it's too small for dual disc anyway. I think the extra disc was optional and it sounds like Suzuki didn't bother to upgrade the M/C when you had it fitted ____________________ Space Is Deep |

I do not ever remember seeing a GT750 without a second disc, even when Bike magazine tested the bike alongside a CB750F1 all of those years ago when they were first introduced. So if you get firm pressure when using that master cylinder, why suspect that it would not be good enough?
The comment about the master cylinder looking very much like one from a Honda four was what I was thinking, except for the ridged bit where the banjo bolt goes into the master cylinder.Presumably this is where the rubber boot goes over and is held in place by the ridge. But I have never seen this on similar Honda four master cylinders and I have had quite a few.
This pic from a 1976 Honda catalogue shows a similar looking master cylinder which also looks like the one fitted to a CB550K3 with the white plastic part. But the one shown in Vincent's pic shows a ridged plastic part, which the Honda ones did not have.

This pic of a CB750SS (essentially a CB750F2 dressed up by Colin Seeley) shows the standard master cylinder for that bike, feeding the standard double front discs. The master cylinder itself was very similar to the one on the CB550K3 except with a taller reservoir.

I had a twin disc conversion on one of my CB550s and used the standard master cylinder, except with Aeroquip hoses and Ferodo brake pads. With careful bleeding the brake was effective enough to lock the front wheel (45 in a 30 ) ____________________ Just talk bikes. What else is there?
