How can I stop my Android device sending delivery notifications on WhatsApp? For clarity, I definitely mean delivery notifications, not read receipts.

https://www.whatsapp.com/faq/en/general/20951546

- One grey tick means the sender's message has hit the servers
- Two grey ticks means their message has successfully reached my phone (which is what I want to stop!)
- Two blue ticks means I've read their message (I've already disabled read receipts in the Privacy settings)

I don't want the sender to even know my phone is switched on. I want the sender to only ever see one grey tick, if possible.

I want to be a ghost.

Can it be done?

Restrict background data on the app?

When my phones on Battery saver it turns off most/all background data for apps so they only refresh when I open them.

Settings > data usage > whatsapp

Interesting, thanks. It seems it will still send those notifications though, either when I open the app or when I'm connected to WiFi - so the sender has at least some idea that I've got their message.

I need to be waaaay more incognito Laughing

In that case stop using Whatsapp. Razz

Android isn't good for being incognito but if you must keep using that device then go have a play with OTR messaging using Xabber.
