I am trying to get my scooter to work when Then engine has just been rebuilt and has never actually been running with the rebuild. I try and start it it wont start the starter motor goes and tries to start the bike. The bike will sometimes start to light up and the rev kicking in then instantly go out as if its trying to start. I know fuel is getting to the card i am however not sure about oil getting to the carb even know it is going to the pump. (I know the pump works) What could be the problem please help

After trying to start it, just remove the plug and see if it is wet at the tip. If it is wet then it would suggest you're getting fuel through but possibly not getting a good enough spark.

While the plug is out, clip it back onto the HT lead (the bit that plugs on the top of it) and then rest the metal base of the spark plug on top of the cylinder head, then press the starter button while watching the tip of the spark plug and see how the spark looks. It should be a good consistent blue spark.

Do those little tests first then report back.

The plug and/or cdi being fine on another bike doesn't necessarily mean you'll have a good spark on this one, there are other factors that come into play.

Check your spark first and if you're confident it looks good then you can move on to checking for fueling issues.

Is it possible that if my stator was damaged it would stop the bike from starting

Not if you have sparks.

When you say goes how long? Have you charged the battery well?

If the starter spins long enough and you have spark, you probably have fuel supply issue.

Try some starting fluid to check that the bike can start. If it starts with starting fluid, but does not start without it that will mean fuel is either old and bad or no good supply.

Sounds stupid but i dont have any starter fluid but im not sure if it is fuel starvation as i sprayed wd40 in to where the piston is and nothing happened (Read somewhere you could use WD40 instead of wd40)

Do not squirt WD40 into engines.

Eh?

Don't spray anymore WD40 or wd40 into your engine!

That aside, if you're confident your spark is good and the plug is getting wet ooh matron then it seems (assuming the plug isn't wet from WD or similar) there is likely a fueling issue.

Has it been running previously while you've had it and when was the last time?
How old is the fuel in the tank? Could it be stale and / or contaminated?
Have any adjustments been made to the carb'?

1) Push it two miles from your house.
2) Pull out mobile phone
3) Pull out RAC card
4) use one to call the other
5) ......
6) win!

I'll bite Rolling Eyes

Who rebuilt this engine of yours, presumably you mean it was opened up all the way to the crank?
For what reason was it rebuilt?
(When you say it's a 50cc do you mean it's still a 50cc or has it now got a 70cc big bore kit in it?)

When was the bike last running?

How old is the battery?

How long can you hit the starter button before the battery slows up?

What reading does your multimeter say the battery is at before you start cranking away?

Read, digest and try to answer that lot before posing more questions or ripping bits out of the bike

Hello a family member rebuilt the engine as the people we got it off said it was seized and the main bearing collapsed. Unfortunately i dont speak to him no longer. the battery lasts for around 5 mins. The battery is around a year old. and it was only rebuilt because it seized and just has a standard 50cc kit on it
