The k3 sv has half a pinlock as opposed to the max so I wanted something that has the full version, also says it has a good FOV witch is tempting because with the visor down on the k3 it feels a bit cramped, sv FOV is also a little sporty probably looking for something a bit more relaxed and wider considering I'm on a 125.
Shame the is-17 doesn't suit me as £199 is a little steep for another luxury but I spend 99% of my time riding with the visor open on the sv because I don't like how it feels closed.
I feel the need to comfort spend since I'm facing another year on the 125. |

What do you mean, half a pinlock? It either has one or it doesn't |

I have the RPHA ST.
I really rate mine, much better at speed for shoulder checks etc than my Shark Speed R is.
In particular I like the chunky centrally mounted visor catch and ventilation is good. Nice finish
and a plush removeable anti bacterial liner. Pinlock supplied and a reasonable inner sun visor.
I'd buy another. ____________________ Currently enjoying products from Ford, Mazda and Yamaha

I have one too, decent lid. Pinlock included is a nice touch. Locking visor is also pretty cool and creates a really good seal.
I've just bought a dark visor for it and the 'rapidfire' visor-launcher triggers on the sides make switching easy.
Oh and it has channels down the inside for glasses.
£199 is a steal, original price was £280. I paid £240 for mine in a flash sale.

Agree, kind of lost with that comment. |
Sorry I had to go potato and short speak as attempting to make posts on my phone was annoying me endlessly, what I mean was that the AGV K3 SV doesn't have the max pinlock only the basic budget end pinlock that covers in the inside important visual area of the visor rather than the entire thing, as below;
https://s10.postimg.org/iv9vgd4o9/pinlock.jpg
It's held in place by the two tension screws either side, my keeps slipping down and well I've never really gotten along with it so always end up riding with the visor open besides when cold or rainy, not sure if opinion would be different without glasses but it feels like I'm playing 101 games to see the road ahead when visor closed with glasses.
Hasn't really been cold as of late but can end up with a noticeable misting above and below in the gaps on the pinlock, be easier just to have a clear visor without one IMO.
The only difference that would require major adjustment would be the D ring as opposed to a seat-belt type clip on the SV and other helmets I've had, I haven't seen proof that d ring v seat belt either one is better but reviews on sportsbikeshop say when it's on it's on, secure and all.
I wasn't really looking for the RPHA ST as I say as I only popped in to look at the HJC IS-17 and sadly it didn't really fit me tried my usual medium on and it was to hard pressing on the cheek pads and then one size up was far to loose and that was without allowing the pads to wear in process meaning that they give a little would have been far to loose. Guy working on the helmets then "oh we have this on sale" (£199, how much) now usually I'd walk away but this colour scheme appeals to me. I looked around and ended up keep coming back and staring at the stand with the above helmet on so much so I ended up forgetting I had to be somewhere.
At £199 I didn't want to purchase on the spot as it's alot of money for an upgraded version of something you already have a decent enough version of so wanted to get opinions and make my own mind up, I only tried it on a couple of times but;
- Sun visor switch felt good and easy to operate and a million times easier than my K3 SV.
- Was a really nice fit, put my K3 SV back on afterwards and it felt a bit roomy and not as enclosed as it could be.
- Max pinlock.

Forgot to update, purchased a RPHA ST. Got round to using it to and from work, sunny day time and colder night ride.
Main fault is that the helmet is a magnet to make my glasses fog up. In the sunny weather the glasses started to fog up a little at the bottom but because of the heat it wasn't an issue at all and then when placed in the helmet in colder weather before setting off from work the glasses fogged up so bad I couldn't even see anything, was a bit sketchy and a problem that's only going to get worse with the change of weather and time of year.
Since the glasses are 2-3 years old and was only a budget pair with the bare basics at the time plus a semi bent frame I'm going to visit a boots store and see if the anti fog cloth they sell for £4.99 would be of any use or if it would be better for me to invest in a new pair that are aimed more towards riding with a anti-fog, uv coating etc. I've been putting buying a new pair of for ages but since I'm using them daily for riding now it seems a good idea to invest in a decent pair.
Shall update further once glasses scenario is solved. Max pinlock is defiantly worth it though over the K3 SV budget pinlock. |
