Over filled cooling system CBR 600

Hi,

quick question, is there any real harm in slightly overfilling your cooling system, I think I've put about a 1/4 ltr more in there than I should of and its above the markings shown on the side of the reservoir.

I really need to know if I should try to level it out or whether it should be ok as it is?

If theres too much it wont blow any seals etc like oil may/can. All that will happen is any extra will come out of the top of the system when its under pressure.

Is this the coolant expansion bottle?

If so, it shouldn't really be a problem, but you should be aware that if your system is actually low on coolant you will probably have to fill it up somewhere else as well (ie the radiator).

Not sure if they had coolant expansion bottles that far back though.

thanks for the info, I think it is the expansion bottle I fill up but there is a sticker on it saying only fill it up from here so I guess the radiator get filled through the system.

Too much oil can blow oil seals around the crank or anywhere in the engine to be honest by the increased pressure that can arise from having too much oil.

Symptoms could be something simple like an oil leak external to the engine or something like oil been used but not leaking (ie been burnt in the cylinders).
