helmet cam

hi, this may have been mentioned before, but does anyone know of a decent cheap helmet cam for simply recording other road users incase of a incident,i am looking at not spending much on it as money is short but i feel that one would be beneficial to me .

SJcam SJ4000, cheap, comes with all the mounting options you could ever not need, 1080p in reasonable quality. Removable battery so if the battery goes to shite you can easily replace (and spares are cheap as chips).

Be sure to get a genuine SJcam one not a knock off.

Why is it better to have it on your helmet rather than the bike? Less jolting?

What about a mobius? They are diddy and do a waterproof enclosure.

It occurred to me that the camera body would probably fit inside a helmet between the padding like you do with an intercom speaker and you could mount the optics on the chinbar or through a modified air vent. The tricky bit would be waterproofing it once you'd done so.

Something about having a lithium battery strapped to the side of my head on a fast moving vehicle that doesn't appeal.

this bloke reviews almost every camera on the market with test footage too. You can spent a few hours on the videos and make an informed decision!

Has anyone tried the Innovv C3 ? The camera bit is on a lead so a bit more options for discreet mounting and not looking a bit of a knob.

There's 90 or 120 degree camera options but I don't know which you'd want?

I use a garmin virb. Reasonably small - not the smallest, but certainly better than the square go pro type cameras. Does GPS as well, so when you have a crash you can show the relevant authorities your speed, direction, position, everything. Found the footage invaluable in my recent didn't see ya mate. Never go anywhere without the camera now.

I'd disrecommend the Drift Stealth 2. Video quality is OK, but it fogs up, the battery/sockets cover is fiddly, the battery indicator is about as accurate as a motorcycle fuel gauge, it takes ages to charge and the battery life isn't all that.

On the other end of the Drift spectrum, I have a ghost (not the newer S model) waterproof as anything, battery lasts between 2-3 hrs, handy remote is handy,. Downside is whilst in my opinion the form factor is nicer than gopro for helmet mount, it is quite large when it's mounted to the helmet.

Shame about the stealth 2 issues, I'd been looking at that due to its more compact dimensions.

I'm still using an old Roadhawk Ride. Getting a bit long in tooth now, 720p, very few options and rubbish battery life in cold weather: ~30min (compared to ~80min on warm day). But, it's nice a dinky and perfect for helmet mounting.

There is an updated version - anyone tried it?
