Hey guys
My fzs600 fazer runs perfectly at idle and if i blip the throttle it'll rev smoothly,
But when I'm riding it, it'll run on 3 cylinders until about 3800rpm before it'll come back on to 4 cylinders. And rev smoothly through to red line.
Initially I thought it was carb related, mainly because it was running way worse when I got it, I cleaned the carbs which made it better. It had a missing spring and o ring on the pilot?/idle Screw.

Any way I bought another set of carbs, which I sonic cleaned, and replaced the jets, and made sure they were balanced after I refitted yesterday. I made sure all the needles and diaphragms were good and were moving freely.

It's certainly made it run even smoother. But the low rpm 3 cylinder issue is still there.

Where do you reckon I should look next.

Cheers

Mmmm. I'll give it a go.
Just seems a bit weird
that it's only in the low revs that it fails.

I'm no expert but you've done one bit that controls the firing, so could be a dodgy plug or connection seems a logical place to check Thumbs Up

Yep, that's where I'd be looking next. And whilst you're there pop a multi-metre on the coils to check they're sound too.

Ordered a new set of plugs and caps.
Had already trimmed the wires and tested the coils.

A dodgy connection can disconnect temporarily due to vibrating at it's resonant frequency which would only happen at certain revs.
I had a similar problem with a Landrover with a loosely riveted LT wire on the coil. At certain speeds it cut out. An ex-army RAC mechanic explained this to me, tapped the rivet with a hammer, it never played-up again.
