My NSR is currently restricted, however, I am seriously thinking about getting it de-restricted within the next month or two ____________________ I have an asshole tolerance level of -10

sounds good, thanks for the help
Just another quick thing, do NSR125s hold their value?
I turn 21 next year and would probably want a bigger bike and provided I dont rag the hell outta the bike do you think I could sell it without too much of a loss? ____________________ 1991 Suzuki GSF 250 Bandit - 2001 Yamaha YZF R6 - 1998 Suzuki GSF 600 Bandit N |

As long as you don't crash the bike and abuse it then it will hold it's value well as 125 two strokes are getting harder to come by. Use decent two stroke oil, let it warm up and keep it serviced |

I bet you didn't know this but if the bike was registered before 1982, then it wouldn't and doesn't need to be restricted, nice RD125 anyone? .
Oh and as for derestricting them on a learner licence is illegal, it technically leaves you with out any licence at all and no insurance so don't do it!
Oh and NSR's tend to hold there value quite well depending if there looked after and cared for . |

It leave you with no insurance, doesn't effect your lisence, your aren't lisenced to ride it, true, but you still have you provisional lisence's, so it DOESN'T "leave you without any lisence at all".
I, and EVERYONE else who I personally know with a 2t sports 125 ride's them de-restricted, no problems whatsoever.
The same goes for 16 year olds on de-restricted 50's, this is WAAYYYY more obvious, as if you see a 125 doin 60, it could restricted OR de-restricted. Whereas if you see a 50 doin 45-50 you know for sure its de-restricted. Someone I know has been pulled about 5 times on the two de-resticted 50's he's had, once doin over 60 in a 30, and one of the officers said "isn't it supposed to be restricted?" and the other want "Nah, they just have something in the exhaust."
So if people get away with it on a 50 (And they do, 99.9% of 16 year olds have them de-restricted) then you'll have noooo problems on a de-restricted 125. Pretty much everyone has them de-restricted, no reason not to. ____________________ Right bunch of arrogant stuck up twats. - Someone with a brain talking about BCF members. |

I would think it would be easier to sell your 125 on after you've moved on if you keep it restricted? Whoever buys it from you is probably going to want to use it to learn on, and might want to be legal about it.... ____________________ "The problem with the French is they have no word for 'entrepreneur' " George W Bush

The guy said that the bike came de-restricted (meaning it had never been restricted since it came off the production line). He explained that the import models are not restricted anyway. I paid for a 125, shouldn't the insurance company pay out for what I bought? It is a 125, fair enough if the noise levels are too high, and the emissions are too high, don't pay out, but for having a bike which the dealer sold to me as a learner legal 125, doesn't that count? |
No.
It is grounds to take it back to the shop, if he sold you it as learner legal, which it isn't.
But insurance companies do not care. I repeat, ICs DO NOT CARE.
If your bike is dodgy, if they find out, then bye bye policy, and if you are very unlucky, charges laid against you as well (possible but unlikely)
