They may claim to be able to match perfectly but I wouldn't believe that. By all accounts though they are good for the money. |
Is it possible to repair a fairing which is cracked and has the paint scratched completely off in places? |
Yes, it is possible.
Is it economical? Realistically, probably cheaper to buy a replacement. ____________________ FZR400 (blown engine), ZXR750 (blown engine), ZX6R (accident), CBR600 which had engine issues after which I learned to change gear..., CBR900, CBR924 (stolen), CB600, CB1300 (everything blew up), BMW K1300GT (written off, hit from rear while stationary), Bandit 1250 for a couple of months, Triumph Sprint ST 1050 (nicked) and somewhere in there, I wrote off a Ducati 748 at Cadwell. |

I used some on a blackbird, I can't find the thread but it was called 2000 blackbird tartup. Showed the issues I had and the build quality, spelling errors. I got a full refund without sending them back. ____________________ Previous: GSF600, FZR600 x2, ZXR750, XT600 Tenere, CB125, CZ125, ETZ 250, ER5, CCM R30, DRZ400, RF600x4, RF900x2, GS500, VTR1000F, 640 SMC, CB250 NIGHTHAWK, GT550x3, GPX750 TE610, CB500, X11x2, SV650, ZING 125, TL1000R,CB250 Superdream, CBR1100XX |

I think its hit n' miss really. The few aftermarket fairings i've bought from China have been okay in terms of finish and material, but the sizing has always been not quite right. All of them required a bit of filing and a few of them needed a drill and cable ties to get them on . For the price it was still worth it I think (especially compared to buying new OEM, if you can even find any).
If its just scratches that you can live with for a while i'd have a regular check on ebay for used OEM fairings popping up, although it might be a bit of wait with it being orange. I had quite long delays trying to find a bit of replacement fairing for my 05 ZX as its plasma blue and the colour seems to also be less common. |
