How do you tie your modular helmet to your bike?

So, I've been looking for a way to attach my helmet to my bike.

There is apparently something called a helmet lock that attaches to the metal ring on your chin strap, but I fail to see how someone can't just come and cut the chin strap off and make away with your helmet. It's made of fabric.

The only way I found works for full helmets and it involves running a lock through the visor.

However, with a modular helmet where (as far as I know) you could remove the front part pretty easily, that won't work.

So, is there another way?

Why would they cut the strap? They'd be left with a lump of useless plastic!

I use my helmet lock as a last resort, but I've used it many times in places where you may expect some sort of tampering and have yet to come back to any sign that somebody has tried.

They don't need a reason to steal or do damage, a top box is the best bet.

I've left my lid attached to my bike using the lid lock and strap many times in liverpool city centre.

Never had a single problem.

Where do you live? Surely it can't be any worse than up here.

It's very uncommon for someone to fuck with your helmet. I think you're worrying unecessarily.

If someone was going to cut the strap to nick your helmet, they are the sort of idiot who would nick anything else on the bike too.

In that case, not even a top-box would stop them.

As Temeluchus will confirm, even proper, brand-name topboxes can be sprung open with a light thump. If, to pick an example totally at random, your friend had the indecency to crash his bike and be ambulanced to A&E with a broken leg leaving your carry-out locked in his panniers.

Just get a cheap bike lock and stick it under the seat, lock it through the visor and get on with life. Don't like leaving them on the floor secured with a chain through the bike wheel, if it rains they suck up water and I worry about random dogs peeing on it. I've left my lid hung over the mirror on many occasions and never had it nicked.

Is there a convenient metal tab to hook the d-rings or still fastend strap onto consealed under the seat? Or a little hook thing that fits the main key that might be part of the seat release?

Personally i hate these these things as helmet is likely to get full of water or bashed by first inattentive goon.

Hard luggage, cheap alarm that goes off when you give the bike a hard thump or take helmet with you. Nice padded helmet bags are a thing.
