Hi all

ive seen a bike that maybe interested in and its 200 miles away (bike is on a owner's forum)

I am getting quotes from courier companies but what happens with the V5 and road tax now?

do i have to be there in person to sign the V5 and what point do I need to buy the road tax?

Thanks

DVLA have never given a damn about the signatures on the V5C. I've scrawled any old squiggle on there in the past.

Change of keeper can (finally!) be done online, so even the pretence has been dropped. No need for you to sign anything, and it doesn't really matter whether you or the current keeper does the change. He's responsible for doing it.

VED needs to be bought before it can be used or kept on the road. You can do that online. It used to be necessary to insure first, but that's now chased up separately.

What you will need is the 12 digit number from the V5C/2 'new keeper slip'. You don't strictly need the piece of paper, but I'd rather have it than not.

Don't insure till it gets there. Its harder to cancel than it is to take it out.

I'd seriously consider going to view it directly however.

hi yes, the one i was looking at initially fell through the seller thought i was some kind of scammer wanting to pay over the phone and get it collected

worked for the better i reckon

seen another bike that is only 80miles away so will pop down on Saturday to check it out

thanks Smile
