Well, last night my lessons were upgraded to DAS, and I had my first ride of a 500 !
I was ABSOLUTELY bricking it !
I thought...oh well..get used to bike...sit on it...potter on playground stuff for an hour...
FOUR MINUTES PRACTICE I had ! lol
Then he took me on-road
I must say, from the minute I got on the bike it all felt comfortable, natural and ..well..easy...
just like the 125, but heavier...
I don't know what I was so worried about....
Got up to 60 on the roads....found slow riding easier....acceleration faster...but not deadly so...
loved the feeling of that power between my legs...so much rumble
And those tyres......oooooooooooo.....chubby
Can't wait to pass my test....my theory is the 1st week of October...and then my test soon after hopefully....
I am hoping to sell the CG for somewhere in the region of £1,600.....then whack a little more to that (maybe have £2K) to buy a second-hand 500/600....
maybe a Honda CB.....
I want something blue and white with a bit of fairing me thinks.... ____________________ Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow" |

CB500s are cool. Major_Grooves has one. I've never ridden it, it’s an inline twin, so it has torque. Looks nice, and very reliable. I'd say it would be great to learn on and ride around for a few months afterwards. And you can get a really decent one for £1000 (or less).
Thats what i'd get for a 500cc.
And apparently they are pretty good for stunting, if you feel like it.
Plus its Honda so you stay in the family. |

Yeah, I think the schools training peeps for CBT should put more emphasis on the fact 125s or small bikes are generally harder to ride. I've seen a fair few on here who hated their 125cc experience and dreaded the larger bikes
I found the 500CC CG to be an excellent ride compared to the 125 I'd been training on. |

Jodie, have a look at my 500 FAQ located here https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=30880
I can highly recommend both the GS500 and the GPZ500, both decent little bikes, which are cheap to run, and easy to ride.
Since getting the GPZ I actually now prefer it to the GS, it has a fun factor about it, you can be a total loon on it if you keep it on the boil above 7k and you can pootle about too.
