this company is trading with the attitude what the customer doesn't know wont hurt them, i have emails where they admit they supplied a bike with a squared off front tyre .. the bike also had loose head stem barrings, forks set at different heights and low brake pads that would need changing with a week of purchase
i would rather pay more than die because they want to save a few quid, the information they didn't provide on there 52 point check lead me to make a purchase that i wouldn't have done if i was informed of all the information
what do u get if u have loose / replaced headstem ,front out of shape tyre on a 3 year old bike = previous owner was a wheelie addict
what do you get doing to many wheelies = problems!!!
if you too have had an issue do as i have and report them to trading standards
dont trust me look on youtube |

How do you set the forks at different heights? That'd require quite a bit of effort - pics required
| militantchewy wrote: | low brake pads that would need changing with a week of purchase |
So if I bought the motorcycle, the pads would just decompose randomly on my driveway despite it not having been ridden? How low is low...brand new pads can have as little as 2.5mm on them from brand new. Pics of pads required, Make, model and year of motorcycle also required.

You've not mentioned the steering stem being replaced, merely the headrace bearings...which it's entirely possible to knacker on a three year old bike what with all the potholes and speed bumps. As for the out of shape front tyre, how exactly do you think wheelies work? If you don't land them straight then the bike kinda...becomes scrap metal, therefore no oppertunity for the tyre to wear. Theres also various reports of Bridgestone tyres suffering funny wear patterns even under light commuting duties. All I read here, is that the bikes recently had its headrace bearings done, they've worn in a bit & it needs adjusting up again. Adjusting headrace bearings is a perfectly normal maintinance task.
Is this one of these things where you're going to join lots of forums to slag them off then dissapear again afterwards? By the sounds of things you're trying to make a massive deal over a set of headrace bearings that could do with a quick tweak. I'd be very interested to hear about what bike, and what sort of mileage it's got on it. |

I am astonished - astonished - that an I Can Internets To Potato sounding outfit punted on some traded in hack with a less than entirely full disclosure of its foibles. Surely this is unprecedented in the annals of bike dealership history!
Matey-chum, never trust a dealer, and if you buy from a place that deals in 20+ year old bikes and Chinese fake-aways, you need to go in with your eyes wide open. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Yes. Yes, you were.
| militantchewy wrote: | that's the whole point of my post to make sure anyone who buys a bike from them checks the bike |
You seriously think this doesn't apply to any bike from any dealer?
| militantchewy wrote: | I have taken the bike to two different garages and both came to the same verdict, sloppy, shocking and dangerous |
Was the first verdict not shocking enough for you?

I can spot a pattern here.

Good for you! That's the spirit! Which court, and when's the hearing? Got a copy of the filing docs?
I ask because tomorrow I'll be inviting motorbikes4all to visit this thread and exercise their right to reply.
Anyway, I'm sure you've been following the practice direction on pre-action conduct, including giving them an opportunity to resolve the problem, pay your invoice, respond to your notice before action, and settle via alternative dispute resolution. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

As you're entitled to do, and opinion isn't generally libellous.
However, they do enjoy a right of reply and we generally hear an interesting other side to the story on the occasions when the dealer chooses to present it.

Oh, I'm sure of that.
I do sympathise, but you've walked into an e-pub and started ranting. We're not going to form a mob and fetch our torches and pitchforks. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

He apparently meant flat spotted, not squared.
Still, I'm sure the dealer admitted to both, and to Maddy, also looked like this.
