Ingrowing finger nail?

So my little finger nail finally decided to come off (after hurting it in a spill before Christmas). However there isn't a nice new nail waiting to come through, it's this:

The images don't show it v.well but it looks like it's growing into my finger. So what do you think, fatal?

Seriously though, I'm going to keep an eye on this thread as I did something similar with my big toe (also a spill just before Christmas!).

Nails don't shed themselves like lizard skins. When one falls off you can't expect a new one underneath!

It'll take ages and will grow out from the cuticle.

Normally you can see the start of the nail? Its there, its just a bit messed up. I can see how it goes but it's already a bit tender, IF I do need it removed I guess I'll be waiting a while.

All is well, I got one axed off, it grew back like that. Freaks you out when the entire nail just lifts off, but your mutant healing factor will kick in any time now.

My thumb nail fell off a while after mangling it. The new one looked like that too. It grew out normal-ish. Expect it to be a bit bumpy and alot thicker than the old one.

It will grow back eventually probably years. I did similar when I was around 10 playing with things I shouldn't of been in a derelict house. Still got a slight dent in it now.

Tore mine off when I slipped using a drill and caught it on the metal sheet I was drilling. Looked like that, looks fine now.

I fell off my bike and kicked the floor hard, losing my big toe. I did my research and found it would most likely grow back - which it did. Give it a few weeks and you'll see it respawn.
