 Posted: 10:34 - 17 Feb 2016 Post subject: Abandoned ZZR600 - Scrap or self break & eBay parts? |
 |
|
Firstly, apologies if this is the wrong forum for this post, if it is, where would be the right place to post this?
I'm not a biker (please don't hate me) so may not be using the right terms, bear with me.
Backstory - My mum has been leasing a house to a guy for the last 6 years, last year he stopped paying the rent, 6 months later, he's out and disappeared leaving debt and a house full of his tat, including a Kawasaki ZZR600 1993 plate (30k odd on the clock) in the garage.
We found the docs. for it in the house, and have had the DVLA transfer keeper(Ship?) over to us.
We have no key for it, it's got rust on the brake disks, and is pretty difficult to push around (Don't know if this is normal for a bike of this size, or if it's seized).
Is it worth me listing it on eBay?
Breaking it up and selling individual parts?
Or just letting it go to a scrappy for peanuts?
Personally, I don't mind spending time stripping it if it will yeild some dosh. I'd like to get some money back from the greasy prick who used to live here, at the least to cover the 2 skips we had to get to dispose of his crap.
Any help VERY much appreciated.
I can provide pics, location etc if need.
All the best, thanks for reading.
Daniel. |

Well, yeah.
Sure looks like that, eh?
As we had a TORT notice pertaining to unpaid rent over the course of the 6 months, anything left on our land became our property.
He had moved out a couple of days before the bailiffs were due, with the bike locked in our garage, for which he had left the key along with the other keys for the property.
We contacted the police and the DVLA with all the relevant legal documents and have had it transferred over to us, the VC5 is in our name now.
If you think that this is a more serious legal mater, then I will look into it further, however, that being said, the legality of it is by the by.
I just would like some help in working out the best way to shift it.
Thanks for your thoughts, brah. |

Considering a ZZR600 in decent nick goes for only £700-800 ish, I'd just shove it straight on ebay as a spares and repairs. If the fairings are all in good nick (not cracked, split, scratched or glued back together) you may get a few hundred for it, but otherwise you should make a least a couple of hundred.
Good nick fairings for these are scarce, everything else on the bike is two a penny on ebay. ____________________ Beginner Biker Adventures Blog

Give it a good wash, wheel it out into the sun on a tidy bit of ground/road, take some decent pics and 99p it on ebay, 10 day auction. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

I had a scooter that was abandoned at my workshop for over a year with money owing on it.
I had no response from the owner after many tries through various means.
So upon talking with the police and dvla I was advised to send off a v5c to force a response from the owner....which it did once he got the letter telling him someone else was trying to register it.
Told the owner over the phone to collect it within 2 weeks and if he didnt want it, then to let the v5 transfer into my name so I could sell it to recoup my costs. The latter is what ended up happening.
I have another bike that has now been owing payment for a year and again, no response from the owner.... ____________________ Suzuki GT250 x7------- Fazer 600------CB250RS------Aprilia Rally 70----- Bandit 600

Oh, do cool those hot flushes. Half the bikes on Gumtree are far more dodgy and zero fucks are given by anyone. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
