Help with being scammed

So not sure how to start this...

I bought a bike with a v5c stating it was a Suzuki marauder. It wasn't roadworthy but I wanted a challenge so planned to fix it up. Recently I tried ordering parts and getting some info from Suzuki directly ( new forks were backwards and not going into what that's done . But Suzuki said the chassis number was definitely not a Suzuki and advised I check my v5c ( which states Suzuki) I've now found out it's a fake . It's worse than that now though as I have no idea where to start finding out what it even is.

If anyone an help it would be very appreciated

You could try plugging the VIN into https://www.autocalculator.org/ or similar sites.

Sadly, the full list of WMIs only seems to be available via a $500 subscription from the Septic's SAE, because freedom isn't free.

What does the VIN plate show, and do the numbers match on that plate, the stamping on the headstock and the V5?

Is it an import? I remember having trouble getting parts from Honda for my XR250 which was an import.

They were very insistent that the parts wouldn't fit because of what the VIN was telling them. I was very insistent that the parts would fit which sure enough they did.

How long ago was it MOT'ed?

That does look strange; is that the VIN off the V5, or the plate/headstock of the bike? Do they all match?

Tax check (from the index) says it's a 2007 Suzuki Marauder, MOT expired 08/15, but VED valid until 06/16.

Looks more like the GN 125 engine? Or is the top of the cylinder just cosmetic?

Are you actually having problems finding parts to fit? The thing about these copybikes is that they really can be nut-and-bolt copies. My Lifan LF250-B was such a close copy of the Yamaha Virago 250 that the speculation that they'd just bought the Yammy jigs and machinery seemed plausible.

I wouldn't worry.

I bought a GX125 before, that was definitely el China. Everything was chinese, the engine went pop and no Suzuki spares would fit. Everything checked out as Suzuki.

If all the paperwork says 125, and the crank cases say 125, then I wouldn't worry about what China says it is. You'd likely not notice the extra 25cc whether it's there or not.

It should say the cylinder CC on the cylinder. Most of my bikes have at the bottom on the right hand side. If it says nothing, I'd just play dumb... it says 125 on the bike...

The gn125 and gz125 are thereabouts the same engine, developed over the years the same little engine is found in the dr125 and i think an old bikini faired sportified 125. Gained much tighter tolereances as the years went on; megaphone exhaust GZ makes 10 horses, later ones 12.

50 squids to take seller to small claims court to get your money back, perhaps talk to trading standards about criminal proceedings. All this relies on being able to find the fucker that sold it to you.
