Bastards! I don't think some garages realise the hassle it causes when they keep your bike for so long! Especially if it's not completely neccessary!

Right, i'm not sure if this happened or not but...
apparently there was legislation going through where within a certain ammount of time you can take the bike back and demand a refund if its unsuitable (i'd saying two months for simple repair is inappropreate)
may be a bit extreme but iut might get them shifting!

You are not fucking wrong. Nearly eight weeks my MZ has been waiting for a new engine. Today they decide they are going to send it back to Germany for repair instead.
I have been polite with them to-date, wrote a very insistant but courteous letter last week. I am going to call again this saturday and if they don't tell me I can come and pick it up the following Friday two things are going to happen:
1) they will find their name posted on every motorbike chat forum I can find with a detailed (and accurate) description of the level of customer service provided.
2) A solicitors letter will arrive on their doormat claiming the money I have lost in insurance, road tax, phone calls, travel to and from their shop on the train, the employment of said solicitor and an extensive claim for the curtailment of my summer vacation and valuable leisure time due to being without my motorcycle.
If they still don't get their finger out of their arse, the next thing will be a van arriving to collect my motorbike for repair by someone else and deliver a summons.
They seem to be under the impression that I will take any bullshit they feed me and have made certain judgements about my potential to cause them difficulty by my appearance. What they forget is that when I bought that bike off them, I paid cash. Price was not the issue when buying the MZ, I bought it because I liked it. I am fully prepared to haul their arse through court should I be mucked about any more.
(If this sounds like a familiar scenario to any employees of a certain bike shop in Edinburgh who may be reading this, you know what to do...Hint: It involves handing me the keys for a fu<king motorbike!)

Sadly i think the fact that motorcycles are still not regarded as a main form of transport puts them in the weekend toy category. Hence they seem to be regarded as a low priority even at some main dealers. You would be shocked at the number of bike shops who's staff do not ride all the time, in fact most drive cars or vans to work! Bearing that in mind even they see the car as the main form of transport and regard your machine as just a "toy", so why rush?
My main dealer is Alf's Motorcycles in Worthing, there are other Kawasaki dealers a lot closer but not only do Alf's have their own racing team (endurance and TT) but the boy's (and girls) all ride every day! Check out this web site https://www.alfsmotorcycles.co.uk/about_alfs.htm
Not all main dealers are created equal! Good luck to all that suffer at the hands of crap dealers, i hope that you get it sorted soon. But if you don't, next time use consumer power and shop elsewhere! ____________________ Here comes the summer!  |

...I bet it was moto-cal in Edinburgh (they are now part of a better crew in seafield road...hope they learn from Alvins???).
Moto-cal are cr^p I bought my first bike from them. It was sweet, a wee MZ RT125. Anyway it was still under warranty (two years) - It took them SIX weeks to correct a small clutch problem due to them having to send for the correct tool to adjust it!!! You'd think that a authorized MZ Dealer would have the correct tools for the job wouldn't you? It's a shame they are soooo cr^p as the MZ bikes themselves are decent for the money. Oh aye and on the 4th of January at about 10:30 I decided to flip it round a corner and do the mz and myself some damage....I didn't want to take it back to moto-cal as they said it would take a minimum of ten working days for parts so I found a MZ supplier in England - I used them and got parts within 2 days (my cheque hadn't even cleared). So If you need parts for an MZ get them yourself moto-cal are cr^p.
Avoid Moto-cal, and don't take your bike to them for repairs... Find a local garage that knows about bikes and let us all know about the experience.

*** Update ***
After speaking on the phone to Ride On Motorcycles on Wednesday at lunchtime and they said that they are currently working on my bike and I thought yes here we go it will be ready soon, but how wrong was I ? I called into their premises mid afternoon on Thursday to find out that one of the new gear cogs that was sent to them supposedely by the trader was the wrong one for the 2nd time and they got the replacement within two days !
After speaking to the manager and telling him how fed up I was with this total fiasco of having now waited 6 weeks with one excuse after another for my bike to be finally repaired but to find out again that I am waiting possibly a further week..... !
I stated to him that I was advised by Trading Standards that he was taking an unreasonably long time to repair my bike and that he could be in breach of the warranty agreement and his answer was "I couldn't give a flying f*** for what Trading Standards says because I'll run my business they I want to !" I ordered him to go and phone his trader to found exactly when that replacement of the replacement part will be arriving and he returned later saying it will be arriving this Friday and that he will request the mechanic to phone me this Monday coming to advise me if the bike is now ready except I won't be holding my breath for that answer ?
My advice is - Don't buy anything from Ride On Motorcycles because their warranties are not worth the paper that they are written on !
