Once i passed my CBT, i want to get a cheap 125 to grasp riding on the roads better. I want it to be cheap & only kept for a couple of months before i hit up my full license.

But how cheap should i go? Im' new to bikes so unsure of values.

Thanks

The cheapest option would be just go in for your license when you've got the funds and ignore the tiddler route.

Bike + Insurance + Tax + Petrol, consumables and whatever else needs buying in that time would drain funds. Starting out for the first time can get costly. I'd much rather have no stress and a full license and unlimited free time to save what I need to for a bike rather than the other way around. Last thing you want is to get trapped on a 125.

With the risk that the underwriter won't let you switch the 125 policy to a big bike, and you end up with a token refund or even owing money when you cancel.

I did a year on a 125, but that was then and this is now. If you're intending to get licensed up then there's no good reason to waste time on a 125, especially if you're counting the pennies.

If you decide to ignore all this and go ahead, then there's still no real answer. Any cheap 125 out of warranty is going to be a risk.

Work out what you want to spend and when you're ready, buy the best condition bike that comes up for the least money. YBR, CG, CBF, whatever's actually available. Don't limit yourself to one model or marque or you'll pass over good bikes while chasing a perfect one.

From your responses & others in my previous post, seems that ditching the 125 & going straight for the full license is the best rout.

Always go for the full licence where possible. I actually found the 650 I was given half an hour into my CBT easier to ride
