My answer isn't specific to ZX's but 600 Vs 1000 is a difference on power. It's simply faster. The power on them is nuts, so get yourself on a test ride, anywhere, and enjoy.
600's you actually need to work for speed compared to the 1000s. If you are bored of how easy the 600s are, then there really is no point of getting a 1000 as that's even easier.
Try one out, what's the worst that could happen? ____________________ Current bike - GSX-R1000 k8 |

Well, ZX10R, and other modern superbikes, are the ultimate machines for the open road. I've never been on a ZX10R, but I can compare a 400cc in-line four to a CBR919RR and I can tell you, more displacement will turn you into a lazier rider. The ZX7R, that I own at the moment, has about the best fun/no too much fun ratio, I've ever seen in a motorcylce.
Anyway, I say do it. If you won't like it, then you can always just sell it and get something else. I'm after a ZX10R myself, then I'm going to get back to small displacement engines. ____________________ '87 Honda XBR 500, '96 Kawasaki ZX7R P1, '90 Honda CB-1, '88 Kawasaki GPz550, MZ 150 ETZ

Yeah, have to agree the ZX-7R is a fantastic bike and i am more than happy with mine.Heavier and slightly slower than the GSXR,but its confidence inspiring handling makes up for that.
Personally i have never felt the need/urge to own a bike bigger than a 750. ____________________ Current Bike - 2000 ZX-7R |

Salient point. If you have the cash to splash without crippling yourself financially, give one a go. I used to love trading my bikes regularly to try something different, it makes the biking thing more interesting. I used to lose money every time too, but still glad I did it. It's not like you'll be bikeless if you have to sell it cos you don't get on with it. ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

Absolutely agree. When I stepped up to 1100cc from the 600 Hornet, the power delivery was just incredible. Was like hitting warp speed and then I looked at the speedo and totally backed off. Sure it makes you a little lazier, but the first time you pin a litre bike is a moment you will never forget. |
Nothing wrong with being able to ride a bike lazily. If you're more than a sunny day hooning warrior, chances are you won't want to ride like you're on a track all the time. Thing is, I got the impression that with the particular year and model the OP is interested in, laziness is one thing it doesn't do well, and maybe the GSXR1000 might be better if that was a requirement? But we're talking about a chap who has two bikes already, so the sunny day warrior thing sounds like the gap that needs filling, in which case, the 10R could be just the thing. I know exactly where he's coming from too, as many of my earlier bikes were bought for the reputation they had as being a bit mental, and this particular 10R, as well as the KTM SD1290R appeal to me. I wouldn't be so interested if I could only have the one bike though. ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017
