My beloved Triumph textile jacket finally will need replacing soon.

I bought it for £55 as a 'factory second' about 8 ish years ago, and since then it has been unbeatable. I commute daily and it has been worn whenever it is wet or cold only now is the waterproofing starting to die. I had a wet arm coming home the other day. Crying or Very sad

Anyway I want something as good to replace it.

I want something with a waterproof ****tex lining (non removable) and a thermal lining (removable). I'm not bothered about vents as it will only be worn when wet/cold. I like the look of the 'Storm' collars too so would like one of them. Must be long too, my current one covers my arse, and the zip in trousers fasten about 4" up.

Currently I'm looking at the Triumph 'Navigator' Jacket as I believe it is the great great great great grandson of my one.

Budget is not too important, I want quality and will pay, that being said I looked at 'Rukka' Stuff which was too much(£950 for a jacket!!!)

The Trumpet one is £350 which is fine. I'd be happy to pay more for better (I'd be even happier to pay less!).

I'd also like *Matching bottoms, the ones I have aren't great and I never got on with them TBH.

*just zip in I'd rather not look like a full kit wanker.

Any Suggestions?

Not Goretex... but what I've been using for daily commuting in some serious downpours and it's always held up well with keeping me all dry.

Alpinestars Andes Drystar jacket (I have the trousers too).

Ive got the Triumph Navigator matching trousers because they were the only thing in the shop that fit my fat ass at the time Razz

Bloody excellent, never leaked after 3 years or so of heavy use. So I can only imagine the jacket would be of similar quality. Triumph's own ***tex lining is the only one Ive found so far that comes anywhere close to being as good as actual goretex.

Ive had RST stuff with Sinaqua membrane which has leaked like a bugger from day 1.

Spada's waterproof membrane (cant remember what its called) has held up pretty well for about 18 months but now its starting to leak in the elbow crease but only in severe prolonged downpours.

If money was no issue, Id go for something with genuine goretex in it, from what I know goretex are the only ones who offer a lifetime guarantee that their stuff wont leak, unlike most others which seem to be 1-2 years

You might look at Ixon, I have one of their jackets is now about 10 years old and still very good year round apart from inevitable slight 'shrinkage'
A fairly traditional style that won't look daft in five years time.

Plus 1 for the Aplinestars Drystar Andes. I bought one earlier in the year and have been impressed so far.

I really like Wolf kit. The leather jeans fit me better than most and I have a Titanium 3/4 length textile jacket which has been excellent. They have a new jacket out so there are bargains to be had on the older stock.

About a year ago I bought a triumph adventure jacket from their online factory outlet store. It was £80 and it's been bloody amazing.

With the lining in, mid winter you only need a t shirt. In the summer it's got loads of vents that open and you stay cool.

It crashed well too Embarassed

Andes jacket is good, but avoid the trousers unless you like the feeling of cold wet testicles on your commute.

I was seriously looking at the Halvarssons safety jacket, especially as this place seems to be doing the "inner" part for half the price of most places:
https://www.raceleathers.co.uk/halvarssons-safety-jkt-level-1-jacket-mens-black-48.html
You also need to buy the outer which is the breathable/waterproof layer that the inner zips into. I think it's sheltex.
They do black, flouro or a full on police style outer layer, and there's even a vented outer for summer use.
As a system it does seem to make a lot of sense and online reviews rate it very well.
I was very close to going for it (probably less than a couple of weeks of continued procrastination) when I saw some goretex lined leathers on ebay. My money went on them.

I must declare an interest in this subject aswel. On a recent trip in my leathers I was unbearably hot. Even on NSL roads. Not to mention uncomfortable by the end of the day. I already have a richa sahara textile jacket which I use for commuting, but I wouldn't recommend it. It's 'waterproofness' is a zip in layer which has a rubbery texture and apart from the fact its crap it also sticks to your clothing. I'm tempted to forget about the waterproofness because bike kit never seems to be anyway, and just buy a decent oversized waterproof from an outdoor shop to wear over the top.

I looked at rukka stuff but it's wayyyyy too expensive so I'm looking towards dainese as they seem to make very good kit. Possibly the stockholm trousers, and carve master jacket, or tempest jacket. Prices not too bad but nowhere to try on dainese kit so will have to take a gamble on the sizing and possible send stuff back if it doesn't fit.

Tried this several times on my RST textiles and still leak and no real signs of any better water protection than pre wash? No beading or water run off?
