I bought this Baotian running well and then went on holiday for a week. When I got back it would not start. Pushing the start button has no effect but there is power to the dash. I replace the ignition barrel and the CDI.
When I shorted direct from the battery + terminal to the solenoid it would turn over so it is not starter motor or solenoid.
I cleaned the contacts under the starter button again no joy.
Help please

Also, does it have a sidestand/gear/clutch safety switch that could be preventing the starter from firing?

Thank you both for your suggestions. In reply the battery has a full charge and the side stand does cut everything but it is in the up position and the bike is in the back stand.
Could the side stand be causing the problem despite being up? Is there some short happening? Can I disconnect the side stand or render it inoperative in some way? I sprayed WD40 on it to ease the joint, would that be the cause?
Sorry to be such an idiot but bikes weren't this complicated when I stopped riding all those years ago.

side stand switches are notorious for being crap, lack of sealing means water gets in causing a short/corrosion..

its worth looking on the net/youtube for a quick guide on how to disconnect it, you can just unplug it, and I think you just connect the ends of the loom, but not 100% as ive not done it myself

There are 3 wires that seem to come directly from the ignition. 2 greens and the black and white. The actual plug is non removable. So my question is which do I join together to bypass the side stand please.
Please let it be either the 2 greens or all three.

Does it have a kill switch? If so is it in the run position?

No kill switch. Turns off at key or put side stand down.

battery has a full charge but what is it reading at

a) off
B) being started
if it drops too far it could be a duff battery

my old qt11 had a problem with leaving the electrics live even if key was out
it would kill batteries

The battery checks out on my multi meter and holds its charge. It is the switch which is the issue. The side stand could be an issue. Shorting across from battery +ve to solenoid starts it.
Can I bypass the side stand and how. It is connected to the ignition by 2 green wires and 1 black and white.

I see no reference to pulling the brake/s on before starting.
You do know the brake levers have micro switches that are part of the safety/starting system on most, if not all, of those scooty things?

Instead of fart assing around with the CDI, ignition barrels and such
check the micro switches
Maybe just put the brake/s on as you try and start it.

Maybe I should have just said "a safety switch" .... didn't think I'd have to list every possibility Very Happy
