Hi folks. Been tinkering with a 2000 sv650, it has a tapping noise on the front cylinder. The cam chain tensioners have been checked and is fine and the valve clearances are well within spec. I've done a compression test and it reads 150psi in the front cylinder and 175 on the rear. any ideas what to expect? Could it be piston rings or valves? The pressure doesn't drop down it stays at 150psi

This, this and thrice this.

I chased a "valve" ticking all over an old engine I had, checking, rechecking and checking again the valve clearances, shims, chain and tensioner. It turned out to be a leaking exhaust header gasket. Embarassed
