Networking: Split an RJ45 connection

Good morning,

Hoping for some help. I work up on a windfarm site and our site cabins have only got 2 RJ45 connections providing internet access that are connected to a router/switch/hub (not sure which) from another cabin on site.

So we want more connections but want to avoid having to get new connections directly from the main router/switch/hub.

Is it possible to put one of our network cables into a switch/splitter and split it amongst more connections?

you can split a cable, but then you are limited to only 100mb (just use 2 pairs instead of the 4)

Im having to remove them from our factory though as we are now all gig except whey "they" are.

Hardware purchased and all working. Just one more question - we have too network feeds, would plugging these into the netgear switch give more MB/Sec speed?

May be a stupid question but I have no idea.

So the netgear switch gives me 2 extra connections but any more cables connected wont give me internet access.

What could be the issue here?

I haven't currently installed the installation CD that came with the switch as it's a work computer which requires permissions for any installations.

There's no need to use the cd, open chrome and goto 192.168.0.1

Which switch did you get?

When cables are plugged in do any of the light's come on? If so which ones.

are you sure its a managed switch. unmanaged wont have an accessible IP address.

If I'm limited to 3 mac addresses and have 2 feeds then I could get two switches which would give me a potential 4 connections, right?

1 feed in one switch, 1 in another switch with 2 outputs from each switch.

This would give me enough for my needs. Any flaws in this logic?
