My bike (YB125SP) has nearly same front brake with YBR125(post 2007).
And front braking power is so poor.
How are YBR125 owners here improving front brake?
Brake Pads?
Mesh hose?

I found Vesrah resin pad(SD-282) and Yamashida(BP-247 OR) are possibe pads on the net.

Can you show us a picture of the brake?

I ask because I wonder if your model has the proper Yamaha caliper, or the smaller caliper that Jianshe-Yamaha fit to their own brand version of the YBR.

Hi Roger san, this is the caliper of my YB125SP.

This is YBR125(post 2007) caliper.
They look a little bit different, they have same pad size though.

YBR calipers have always been fairly average and from memory are all the same caliper (part number) but there is two distinct versions of the same part.

One is a chinese made caliper for the late model ybrs and the other is an italian made version for the early ybrs, in all honesty i cant say ive noticed an actual difference when it comes to the braking side. Yours looks like a later chinese version, you can try getting your hands on an earlier one but tbh im not sure your be impressed with that either.

Peronally when i was pdi'ing, servicing, test riding ybrs over the years i would stops using both brakes.

Its a cheap simple bike with cheap simple brakes and you may be expecting to much of them, dont get me wrong i like ybrs there a good commuter and pretty reliable for the most part but they are what they are.

You could try a braided brake hose, that will definetly help abit and maybe a harder brake pad hh sinted pad etc (if you can get them).

Thanks for your helpful response Thumbs Up
I think I'll search for braided hose and harder pads I can purchase here Thumbs Up This may be a bit of too much custom for YB/YBR, but I think I quite like this bike how it rides for my liking, and it will be fun for me if I can make the brake better than now even if it's a little bit Smile

I wonder how much work swapping a YZF 125 front end would be?

That must be a lot of work needed Shocked
I ordered "swage-line" easy order braided brake hose 20deg-825mm-20deg which some bloggers were saying it fitted well and worked fine.
I tried to find metal pads but those weren't easy here, reading some reviews, Vesrah resin pad is not that good especially in rain, so I'll try with normal pads first.

On my YBR I improved the braking with stainless brake line, hel, wezmoto, but the biggest improvement came from greasing the brake sliders with red rubber grease and working it in.

HH sintered pads and a braided hose will improve it. That brake disc looks no good, try to replace with a cast one if they are available.

Hi

Difficult to tell from that picture, but it looks like the disk has been damaged by worn out pads at some point

All the best

Thanks for your input Thumbs Up I'll ask the shop of greasing too!

I found it (EBC Organic Pads FA464 YBR125) on ebay uk.
I booked the shop on Sunday yesterday so I'll try with genuine pads this time, I'll check if buying from ebay uk is possible for pad change Thumbs Up

I've done 4000km(2500miles) on mine with genuine pads. I hope it's not damaged yet, I ask the shop to check it on Sunday too Thumbs Up

edit
I remembered why there is scratch on the disc. Embarassed
https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=309886
I forgot removing disc lock on mini touring and started, caliper support was bent, I had to ride it back to home using front brake too.
Pads touched at different angle to the disc and made scratch on it.
(when caliper support was changed to new one, they said disc was ok)
I received braided hose today and tomorrow it'll be attached.
---
I'll ask them about replacing brake disk too(cost and delivery).

Braided hose was attached, I confirmed this was the cause of poor braking. Normal hose expands like a balloon and didn't deliver strong input at all. Now I can control at emergency stop. With this hose, normal pads and disk works fine. I'm very pleased and this was one of the best investment on this bike Thumbs Up

I touched and checked the disk surface, the scratch damage seems to be slight, I may change the disc when I change pads to new ones.
