Anyone been into a Tesco lately?
https://www.tesco.com/food-collection/
So, as I walked in the door today, I get approached by Tesco staff handing me a shopping list they'd like me to buy for their charity.
So, Tesco as asking me to buy produce I wasn't going to, so they can pretend they're doing good things for the local community at my expense, by handing it over to someone who would rather spend their dole on drugs, booze or fags.
Awesome marketing for the thick. ____________________ TZR250 2MA road, TZR250 1KT road, TZR250 2MA race, TDR250, YZF-750R Boost colours.

They've been doing it for years with pet foods. Puppies! Kittens! Junkies!
I'll bet any money (after Brexit hyper-inflation) that they throw out more perfectly edible food than they ever get donated. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

You're not under any obligation to donate to charity, and if the biggest problem you had to deal with that day was a member of staff talking to you, I envy you. |
It's not the being approached that pissed me off. It's Tesco's trying to use charity to convince customers to but more goods at full price. If Tesco were matching it, I could understand. They aren't, they're asking their customer's to boost their profits in the name of "charidy".
Personally, I think that's disgusting behaviour.

I'm sorry, but I simply don't believe this bullsh1t. "We're so poor we have to use food banks". Yeah and effing drive there.
I presume all of these people using food banks have already knocked the fags, booze, Sky TV, mobile, car and take away food on the head first?
Food is cheap as chips in this country. I could make a lasagne which would easily feed 8 for less than £7.00. I regularly make a large one from Aldi's 800g pack of mince (£2.70) and freeze the other 7 portions cut and wrapped when cold.
You can feed a family of four for less than a price of a pack of fags a day, if you eat vegetables and actually get off your arse to make food instead of buying frozen pizza's. ____________________ TZR250 2MA road, TZR250 1KT road, TZR250 2MA race, TDR250, YZF-750R Boost colours.

Do you work at a food bank? Or just man the car park? Otherwise, how on earth do you know how people travel to them?
Not everybody has the luxury of choosing where their money goes. Some food bank users will have cars, that they use to get to their jobs, which they use to keep a roof over their families heads and the lights on.

And if you don't have £7.00, what can you make?
The hard of thinking like to paint those less fortunate then themselves as somehow playing life on easy mode. If it's such a great life, why not quit your job/reduce your working hours, give away all of your savings and you, too, could enjoy all of that free food! ____________________ Former: CG125, SV650S, YZF600 Thundercat, Sprint ST 1050

Oh really? And how much diesel money could they have saved if they walked there? Enough to make the 8 person Lasagne?

Better life choices on what I spend my money on.

In practice, food is so cheap in this country that nobody should go hungry. Anyone who uses a food bank out of necessity needs to prioritise better. Unfortunately, we have a whole group of gimmedat's in society, who will use food banks to free up dole money for other uses.
This is why the idea of putting dole money on a debit card which could not be used for anything but food, caused such an outcry from the great unwashed. One comment on Radio 2 was "it's my wages, i'll spend it on what I want". ____________________ TZR250 2MA road, TZR250 1KT road, TZR250 2MA race, TDR250, YZF-750R Boost colours.

A bunch of them were in my "local", all huddled round the bottom of the elevators waiting to pounce on their next victim - as I shimmied past, one of the old ladys handing out stuff gave me a smile - BAM , right in the feels .
In all seriousness , I do think there's a place for this somewhere - just not by a store entrance pestering people who are (mostly) just trying to get on with their day.
If I want to help I will be in touch - don't hand me a shopping list expecting me to do your shopping, k thanks bye  ____________________ CBF 125 -> CB400SF -> GSX600F -> ZX6R (G1) -> GSXR1000 K4 -> ZX6R (B1H Stunt bike) -> VFR800 -> R1 5PW -> Sprint 1050 -> Fireblade 929 -> ZX10R C2H -> GSXR1000 K3 |
