Hi, I'm now the owner of a van. It comes with some decent parking sensors but the Mrs' car comes standard with a reversing camera which is brilliant even in a relatively small car.

I'd like the same thing for the van so I can get right up to stuff (the current sensors go mental even when there's a good foot of space left) and there are loads of kits on ebay for about £35-40. I've been looking at something like this. Has anyone used them? Are the screens rubbish? Wiring it in myself is no problem, I just don't want to waste £40.

Cheers

I got a real cheapo one for my van.

Think it cost about £16 and the screen was £5 ish.

Does the job nicely.

I wired it through the panels behind everything and wired it to the switched live and a switch that was spare from the last owner (was a sparky van and had a couple of gadgets that were removed when I got it).

Means I can turn it off totally if I want which is quite handy

Must admit the screen is covered up mostly these days. Thought I'd need it when I bought the van but found using my side mirrors was more than enough when moving it about.. just got used to it.

Does the job Smile

Ccd cameras are better than cmos from what I can remember - I went through a few cameras on my Jeep. They each lasted 2 to 3 years before water ingress started to fog them up a bit, although they still worked!
From what I can remember I paid about £15 for a monitor and £8 or so for each camera. All were generic non-vehicle specific ebay direct from China jobbies. The last one I bought was a few years ago now.

was years ago off ebay. just searched for reversing cam and picked one in the uk that was cheap.

the screens are so cheap and really handy. hardwired one in in the car for my dashcam. it just sits in the glove box and when i wanna change settings and that i just plug the power and voila. nice screen to work on Smile
