I have a Turnigy Accucell 6 charger for charging my lipo's - which works as it should.

I need to charge a 12v battery from a UPS, its a sealed lead wet cell battery etc..

On the charger it has got a charge program for leaded batteries?

but then i'm stumped on the charge rate...

Goes from 0.1A -> 6.0A

then 2.0v(1P) -> 20.0v(10p)

I havent looked at the battery yet - I suppose it may have its charge rate on the case?

**edit** found the battery

Ritar RT1272 [12v 7.2AH/ 20HR]
constant voltage charge
Cycle use 14.6 - 14.8v
Standby use 13.7 - 13.9
initial currant less than 2.1A

Im guessing the 2nd value is just what voltage the battery is, just didnt know what the "p" value was?

Just whack it on 6A @ 14.6V

Keep an eye on it in case it starts to bubble or get hot.

1P = 1 cell = ~2.1V for lead acid.

stick it on PB and itll only draw what it wants...at less than 1c....like said before keep an eye on it and drop it to say 1/10th c if overnight charging..your charger will turn off or switch to trickle charge anyhow once the battery is charged......lipo charger on SLA battery is a lot more high tech than most SLA batterys are used to dealing with Smile

As above - if you've got the time, I'd stick it on 1/10th C for a lead acid, especially one like that. (Though 7.2AH is pretty tiny for a UPS.)

So I'd be tempted to go for more like .7A.

Cheers G, the battery in question is only from a APC 700 - the battery is doubled making it 24v
