Mame Romsets Woe

I am trying to get my mame romset to work on a Raspberry Pi running Retropie, Emulation Station and mame4all.

Now...

The mame set I have works wonderful on my old and trusty mame32 on my windows setup, but every time I try to load up a rom in mame4all, it errors with incomplete roms.

I know it's all about having the right romset for each emulator you have (They need to all stick to a fkin standard set that gets updated and work around that) and so you need to scour the web and do some hoop jumping.

So, before I hoop jump and piss about with Clrmamepro, does anyone have a link to a working verified romset that would work for me?

I have the latest build of retropie and mame4all.

I have tried rebuilding another set into 0.37b5 no joy running, but builds fine.
I have downloaded 0.37b5 set, no joy running.

I can only assume I need another romset.

The plot thickens.

Have you tried the other mame emulator? There's also an experimental one you need to build, works OK on a RPi2 or 3.

Yeah I've tried Mame2003, same issues.

I am using 0.37b5 romset and a load work,
I was spoilt for choice, can't quite remember what I played them in, it was on the pi 3, some only worked on irmame4all,
And some I had to try in a different mame emulator,

I still have the file, it's a gig in size, if you have a way I can easily upload this I'll be happy to

Can't remember where I got it from, I would have just Googled the Romset I reckon

Yeah that's the set I have.
I have no idea why I am getting the errors on launch as everything I have done checks out and I'm not a mame noob, I've been using mame since 98. I have checked them over with Romcenter and they seem fine, same with Clrmamepro.

I have RetroPie 4.0.2 installed and updated.

I know romsets can be a pain, but this is a joke. I have done everything by the book and then some.

I also have the original zips of everything, so I can reset myself to zero easy enough and have done twice already. Maybe I will installing mame4all myself in retropie.

When I downloaded the set I just dropped all the rom zips into the mame4all folder and they ran,
I didn't mess with any of the files at all,
I have only a few on my card now, if you want I can email the zips over?
A few roms at a time?
I have about ten games that work fine, as I was fed up of a huge list of games,
Want me to send one which I know works for sure?
Might help you fault find if it works fine on mine

I have that romset you linked, I dropped them into the folder as is and mame sees them fine but gives the file missing error you get when you have the wrong set installed.

I have checked and they are for sure the 37b5 set, verified by Romcenter.

So you'd only be sending me what I have.
I am going to try Advancemame, see if that sorts it.
If not I will just reinstall mame4all into Raspbian and fuck retropie off.

Edit: can you just name me the roms you know work?

I just linked the above as it looked similar,

I know the set I have works 100% ok, might be worth a shot,
Personally I think retropie works well,
Maybe it is a different issue your having

I 100% downloaded that pack and have checked the crc hashes against the verified romset and they come back correct.

Those are the roms I've kept and working, I did mean to add more but haven't got round to it,

In my folder I do also have:

qsound.bin 8kb
qsound.zip1734104192 3kb this is a zip file
neogeo 261kb this is a zip file

Also there is an artwork and samples folder which is empty,
The q sound and neo geo files may only be in there when I was messing around trying to get other games to work, I'm unsure, they may be needed hence not deleted

I just rebuilt the SD card with raspbian and then added mame4all and it all works fine.
Retropie didn't play ball at all, maybe the new version needs a different romset.
Everything I am trying runs perfectly, cheers for the help chaps.
