Greetings and Gloves!

Hi guys,

Returning to the forum and to riding after a number of years out due to a nasty off.

Just put deposit down on a 17 plate Street Triple R and cannot wait to pick it up in March!

In the process of purchasing some kit also, I need a good leather jacket (plain black classic look) and some gloves (one pair to last all year, although won't be riding much in the deep winter!) I would very much welcome some recommendations please chaps!!

i have full alpinestars gp-pro kit, comfy as fuck and warm too, only fingers cold, but i have been reliably informed if i get some cotton etc undergloves this wont be a problem

Recommend getting the muffs and decent, protective summer race gloves.

I did buy the gloves I mentioned in the other thread - while they are good, they are not the best, and not quite what I wanted. Will update it with review soon. Muffs are still needed below 0 degrees on any long journey.

Since you have to wait for your bike, spec/haggle/blag some preferably OEM/approved heated grips as an extra.
I did. So glad i did too, added about a hundred quid to the cost of the bike with in my case a full yamaha 2
year warranty/guarantee on the parts. Probably the best 100 quid I'll spend on that bike. Most recent ride
out was boxing day , but I still had a good two hours out in unlined summer gloves with no discomfort at all.
It's easy to spend a hundred quid on a couple of pairs of half decent gloves, spending that on the bike seems
better value. Plus, heated grips are luuuuuushh. I'm a total convert.

Yeah, the Alpinestars GP Pro gloves are great when its warm, but totally useless when it gets cold, I know. I use Held Freezer gloves in winter. No armour but nice and cozy.

Definitely multiple pairs are best for all year round comfort. One of my bikes doesn't have muffs as the one I have don't fit it, the other has them on or off on whim and conditions (only been on for a couple of 200 mike rides this winter).

A pair of fairly inexpensive (£45) Helstons leather gloves are my goto summer pair. Held Talin goretex and lambswool have enabled me to keep very warm and still feel my fingers riding for hours at motorway speeds in indicated -5 degree conditions even with the heated grips turned off. Having said I could feel my fingers, I couldn't feel much else as the gloves are so thick!

Now I've retired my Richa extreme gloves (whose construction wasn't great, as discussed in anther recent thread), my cool and wet weather gloves are Rukka Argosaurus. Very spendy (though £70 cheaper than UK pricing if you buy from Germany), but very comfy (fit like a glove) and the right levels of environmental and safety protection for me.
