Is it a fuel injected model?
If so bumping probably wouldn't work any way, as you need electric to prime the squirters before you begin.
Wouldn't be my first course of action either.. running up and down the road trying to jump into the saddle of a 1/4 ton motorcycle, let alone one with difficult to source if cracked fairing panels....
So.. If you haven't been using the bike... what have you been using?
First course, I'd wip the battery off, and stick it onto the car on jump leads for ten or fifteen minutes, to get some juice in it.
Cheapo car battery chargers, 4A ish will charge a bike battery well enough... if you dont have one of them already, picking one up at Halfrauds or local motorfactors on teh way home, is convenient and shouldn't break the bank.... A-N-D, if you need a new battery, which is likely, they are only little and dont last even as long as cars ones, 2-3 years is good going.. you'll need a charger to first charge a new one before fitting to bike anyway....
Well.. you might get one mail order 'dry charged', that once loaded with acid has enough juice in it to get the motor started for that, if run long enough to bang it up to full... but, not the best start to get a long and happy life from the new battery, IME... they benefit from being filled, and the electrolyte allowed to 'settle' then slow-charged, which will make the electrolyte bubble and settle some more, and possibly need topping again before filling and fitting... and THEN, to prime the pumps etc, given a bit of assistance with a boost box or car battery on jumpers, for 'first start' so that doesn't deep-discharge the new battery and weaken it before its been given much of a chance... but still... ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

I have a Digital multimeter , I bought from Maplin

not sure that if it is any good to check if the battery is charging up
while the bike is running ?
if I buy a new battery , couldn't I just plug it in ?
I looked up charger at Halfords they start @ £25 I have to add a battery to that ....£80 altogether ?! ____________________ Honda CBR1100 |
