Foreseeable noob issue; bought a new battery, 'activated' it with the acid pack, connected the charger and it doesn't want to charge as the voltage's too low (below 3v).

The last battery I bought came ready to go, I stuck it on the oximiser and it charged. So I'm guessing I need a different charger?

Have you got a set of jump leads, just thinking you might be able to give it a little boost off some leads to get the voltage up ready for the optimiser to work

I do not. What's the cheapest charger that won't result in a house fire?

Assuming you got all the acid in and let it equilibrate, it sounds like it's a dud. Take it back.

Hmm, all the acid went in and I left it to settle overnight.

I agree, mine did not need charging.

Checked the battery with a multi-meter (probably should have done that first Embarassed); so the charger must be fooked. Only thing it could be is I'm using the crocodile clips, I'll try using the continuous charge attachment.

Edit: ^ seems it was that.
