Hey all,
Well, my original plan was to buy a cheap old cg125 or something similar and ride around for a year or so and then do my DAS. This was partly forced on me by circumstances (skint ), and partly because it seemed the smart idea.
However, I now have to spend £900-£1000 on my first bike (Family loaner/ gift with conditions on top of my cash).
I know the better idea would probably be to get a decently newish cg still. But if I'm spending that sort of cash, I want a nice looking bike i.e; Sporty So I suppose my first question would be what can I expect to get in that price range (used)? Secondly, I see that most of the sporty numbers are two strokes. I'd like to avoid a two if possible, so what four stroke sporty types are there? (Bearing in mind they have to be learner legal still)
Finally, as oppose to the cg which would cost about £140 p/a insurance is a sporty number going to push the premium up much?
Sorry for the broad nature of these questions, but I really am just feeling my way in this bike lark ____________________ 'Allo! My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die!

I'd say XR125 - don't take my word for it. Claud, Smoto Bob and 89CBR Chris all rode it today and found it was a good ickle bike - i could keep up with the rest (on their 600's and 400's), so worth recommending! Better than the CBR as it's more practical and manoueverable. Can go offroad too. Some met traffic police at the Ace cafe today thought it was a nice (cute) little bike and very practical around london. If you want a 4 stroke, get this! - I pulled 70mph on the speedo today on the flat so it's worth a thought ____________________ The Tot 2019 Z1000SX - 2007 R1

OK, after a bit of hunting I've discovered a shop in Bradford that seems to have what I'm looking for. What do these look like for the money?
Bugger. Can't link directly thanks to the web design So if anyone would be kind enough to take the time go here - https://www.queensbury-motorcycles.co.uk/ and have a look at the two NSRs. Both early 90s, both around £900.
They also have this;
YAMAHA TZR125 F REG 27k,
very clean standard con, 12 months T+T £745.
but it's not on the site yet.
So what do you think? Worth a look? Overpriced? I like the red one ____________________ 'Allo! My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die!

Really? Damn I thought I'd come across something decent there, glad I decided to ask on here. Looks like my trip to lovely Bradford is cancelled then
Oh well, back to hunting I guess.

That looks like a good buy if you ask me.
I think that'll fetch about £700 towards the end of the auction, which isn't bad. I'd be cautious as to its engine condition, he says its good but i'd rather go check the bike out with a mechanic before bidding, just to be sure. ____________________ Aprilia RSV Mille R Edwards Replica - Aprilia RS250 - Suzuki GSXR600 Supersport Race Bike |

hmm, sadly I don't know any mechanics any more I am however totally bowled over by the looks of that thing, very pretty I'd be perfectly happy to pay £700 for it I think. Quite close to me for a change too.
Thanks to all who've posted with advice so far, much appreciated ____________________ 'Allo! My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die!
