Sods laws isn't it. I'm 7 days from being 21, that's 7 days from doing my big bike test. My friend says "fancy a go of a big bike? Just a quick peek at the great things to come?"
Well yeah, damn right It's 9:30pm, traffic is minimal. What harm can a quick one round the block do?
Plenty, especially when you get pulled by the Police on a bike that a> You're not insured on, b> you've got no licence for and c> you can't find the MOT certificate for.
Basically I've been asked to produce documents, and as I gave them my real name I'm pretty much screwed. I've been told by my local Police station to go back this afternoon and talk to the officer that pulled me over, he might slap my wrist (being that it was a test drive) or he might throw the book. They did commend my brute honesty over the counter, I pretty much walked in and said "I was on a bike too big for me, with no insurance and I can't find my MOT certificate yet." They just told me to come back tomorrow.
And the best bit? They pulled me over because my licence plate was obscured by some black tape and one of the screws had come loose.
Brilliant. I'm at fault, I'm not going to try and worm my way outta it. Time to take the punishment, anyone know what I could be hit by?

One of my ex friends had the same thing happen to him, he decided he was going to have ago on my scooter way back in 2001 this was.
He went round the estate, and he indicated back into the road where I was going frantic thinking it had been stolen, then next minute there was a police van behind him pulling him over .
They said they stopped him due to it being a 50cc with no L Plates ( I had passed my test hence they weren't fitted) He lied to them at the side of the road and said he had a licence and insurance etc and they asked him to produce.
He didn't have any of these, so he went to the police station shortly after and explained to them where he was charged with riding with no licence, and insurance. He went to court and got a £500 fine and 12 months ban on the licence he didn't have, last time I spoke to him his ban had been up and he was finding it mega hard to insure a car at all.
Also bare in mind your "mate" can also get done for lending you the bike as that is also an offence! |

my bloke had a similar situation with a car, he got, in all, £500 fines and 3 month ban for being pulled at traffic lights with no tax, no insurance and no MOT. his car (which 2 years on he's still paying the £5000 loan for) got stolen and he was test driving the replacement that would cost him £200 cos his insurance company f*cked him over when paying out for the stolen car. that was the court being lenient with him, every case is different though, it's all down to the judge at the end of it, you might get away with it lighter, just stay honest and be very apologetic!! one other thing, it makes a big difference where the court is, if its a quiet area with little to no crime then it might be pretty bad for you, if however they have to deal with little shits all the time they won't give a toss about you trying out a big bike, just remember to be very polite and very apologetic ____________________ Alli x

Piggy doesnt want to wreck your life just for having a sensible ride round the block on a bike. just explain that you were going to do your test in a few days time, and that you were *Thinking* about buying your mates bike, so you just wanted a quick go to see if it was worth it or not
Ive known people buy a car/bike, then drive it home with no insurance, get pulled, explain the situation, and get sent on their way after a caution.
I think the worst you can expect is a bollocking and a few points. Given you honesty a ban would be the most stupid thing ever |

Nope, never been in trouble with the law before for anything. As tobyr says I've only got my CBT, I was riding the bike as kind of a "test drive" before buying a bigger bike in 7 days (when I'll be doing my test and I'm 21, yay...)
Anyhow my only plan is to go down, tell the truth, apologise for being a tit and then taking whatever punishment they administer accordingly.
Bit of an arse but so was I eh. ____________________ Last bike - 2004 CBR 125 - Gone but not forgotten

Hopefully they'll see that you're being 100% honest and not trying to waste their time, and mention something to them about how it's really taught you a lesson and you'll never consider doing something so stupid (hype it up, so they think you've really been scared by it all ) and how you're very pleased it didn't turn into something more serious.
Or if you want to claim insanity I'll back you up. |

Well ive just got my summons, sounds highly highly serious. Any advice on how to fill out my incomings and outgoings form?
They actually have a space for fags/alcohol, clothing, food.
My income = 250 p/m
I end up with about a fiver by the end of the month.
Any advice how much guesswork your allowed to do?
As id say i spend pretty much all my money, say 150 on booze/fags(/dope), 50 on clothes and 50 on food, not to mention the 75 a month i owe my dad for the bike. But they want proof of debts owed... (and yeh i really dont know how i end up with any money) ____________________ China traffic/travel bike vid - When I make a sweeping statement, please add the word 'statistically' in to the sentence before you bitch...

I filled in my statement of means off the top of my head and didn't get any quibbles. |
Im guessing about that, at the moment anyway. Its probably more about 10-15 on fags, but i spend about a tenner everytime im down the pub. And im there about 3 times a week, at least. so thats 40 x 3, 120 a month. Plus a bit of pot, but thats not gonna count soon, as i intend to avoid it when back at college.so thats 135 ____________________ China traffic/travel bike vid - When I make a sweeping statement, please add the word 'statistically' in to the sentence before you bitch...

He's getting banned cos he was caught doing 73MPH in a 30MPH Limit.
And as for the topic of this thread he is likely to be given a ban of some sort and a hefty fine.
Or the officer might be in a good mood and use his desgression and let him off this time. |
