I cant remember exactly how i got into biking it was probably a cocktail of my dads musky old stories and the adrenaline i felt when i got a shot on a 50cc 2-speed automatic field bike. But when it got knicked, i went with nothing to fill the rush for years. Until i got onto a minimoto in spain. Sat on it, gunned the throttle open, done around 30mph into a tire wall, forwards flip and landed on the other side....maybe im twisted...but it was fun...When i really got into biking it was around 13, now its 145 days until i can finally get my eternal fix Twisted Evil

What about you folks?

I got into biking mainly due to me dad, he had a spare ticket to a bsb round when i was 15, so i tagged along as pillion and it simply amazed me.
Then when 16 i bought a 50cc twist 'n' go ped, then when i was 17 i got the rs125 and then recently bought my zxr400 and passed me test.

I have'nt looked back since Thumbs Up

17 ... it was a calling ... and probably related to the Alfa exhaust'd GPZ900R that I use to walk past on the way home from my part time job each shift ... or the 'coolness' of the bloke with the brand new GPX750R in Gold and White who used to fire it up and sit and chat until it warmed before moving it 100 feet (short sleeved shiort, no lid, fag in his mahf) to lock it up each shift ...

Now, at 25.

Well if you see my other post in "what have you gotten away with" i did get a bike at 23 but had an 'incident'. After that i forgot about it for a couple of years but the bug bit me again about 2 months ago.

I wish i'd got into it earlier now. If only for the fact that my bike does save me a hell of a lot of money.

VERY young, but they were my Dad's old Lambrettas. First went on a little midimoto field bike, and it grew from there. My Dad got into his 'proper' biking again with an R7 I think it was, and then his Kwak ZX9 obsession started. When I learnt that biking was legal from the age of 16, I wanted in!

Got into biking of my own accord.

I love it to bits. The image you have/the self belief/the women who want you (may have been a dream).

I love biking- i was millimetres from death after a biking accident, yet i cant wait to get back on one.

They are dangerous and that's part of the thrill of them!!!!! Twisted Evil

i'm 29 and i got one last year as i needed transport. fortunately i got an rs125 so i got more than just transport. I had only tried a sr125 b4 i bought the rs125 and i hated that. If i had tried a cg125 b4 i bought my rs125, i wd probably have a cg125 now but i wd have missed out on a lot of fun

I started looking at biking when I was just turning 21.

Previously I'd always considered bikes to be a two wheel death trap, and bikers to be an organ transport system. At the time I had my eyes firmly set on getting a bloody quick car to have fun with (almost to boy racer proportions).

I had a go at my dad when he announced he was wanted to get back into biking after a 25 year gap. He bought a Kawasaki GPZ 550 of off ebay, so I was pressured into giving him a hand picking it up. When we got it back from Norfolk, I had a sit on it just to see what it was like, started the engine and Dad let me take it up the road and back, I remember I was amazed by the acceleration of the thing.

A couple of weeks later I booked a 5 day intensive DAS course, did my CBT & test, have never looked back. Passed the test and within a few weeks managed to kill the GPZ's gearbox, so went out and bought a Hayabusa. It still puts a smile on my face when my mates think they'd be able to out accelerate a bike and generally go quicker. which some of them can, but they get a little miffed when I point out my £2800 bike can leave most of their £25,000 "sports" cars standing.

Been into bikes since a young age, got my first bike when I was 12-13, was an old Suzuki GP 100 from the 80's that I bought as a field bike - had that for a few months, sold it on. Fast forward a few years just before I started college which was 10 miles away and public transport would of taken hours, so decided to buy a 50cc scooter instead of relying on a bus. Never looked back since. Hope within the next 2 years I'm able to get the GPZ500 I've been wanting. Smile

Been into biking since I was about 12 - looking at Blade posters and Dad's old biking photos. Started riding when I was 17; couldn't be bothered with the scooter/moped thing - I think I could pedal faster back then.

Bought a ped when I turned 16 purely because I wanted the freedom and loved it so much (until the ped just got frustrating) I decided to make it a hobby as opposed to a transport solution, although it became both.

Used to go with my old man to scooter rallys, as he used to have a lambretta. His mate's used to customise them, as they owned a chroming/gold plating shop - Their brettas was well nice, custom paint job, chromed, better then the cheap ass scooters you get nowadays..

Then my dad got rid of his scooter when my lil sister came along - Went without bikes for years, but everytime one went past i used to just stand there and drool.

Then i got to about 12/13 and there was a local crosser track near me, 50p a go for 10 mins on TS-50's, the amount of money i spent there, could have no doubt bought myself a bike, but oh well..

Thats where i started riding, havent stopped since, and never will, bikings in my blood. Smile

First bike was a battery powered Crosser thing with training wheels.
Then my dad took the training wheels off, So it was just a 2 wheeler, and he got me going on self powered two wheels.

Then I got a little PW50, at the age of 6, Then by the time I turned 8, I was on a semi auto PW80.

Then When We moved to cyprus, I got a DR125 when I was 10.

It went from there really.

I was 14 and wanted to be a bike mechanic. Plus I fancied the boy next door on his RG125!!

I bought myself an AE 50 that I never got working, but knew when the boy next door was coming home so used to rush out and "tinker" with the bike just to see him! To this day....12 years later... never spoke a word to him! he he!!

When I was 25, brother and friends had been riding a few years already and they were always going out for rides, where as I was stuck in the car.

Figured what the hell and did a DAS, then went out and brought a new 1998 916BP cos I liked the sound they made Smile

My interest in bikes has always been down to someone else. I first got interested in 1978 when I was 18 and was going out with someone who had a Honda CB400 Four. He then changed it for a Honda CB750 and we went touring (with me pillion) through France, Belgium and Holland. This made me want to get one of my own so two years later I bought my first bike, a CG125. (I think I was influenced by the Honda factor Laughing ). I then passed my test and got a Kwak Z250. When I passed my car driving test I sold the bike. I used to look backed on my biking days with fondness but hadnt ridden or owned a bike since until recently, 24 years on. I met a guy at work who rides a Yamaha FJR1300, and going out on his bike as pillion refueled my interest and I bought another bike. Sold that one 3 months later and am now enjoying my ZZR now that my biking days are back! Laughing
