Maybe some of you guys remember a thread a few weeks ago regarding my new bought mito.
I've changed the engine oil, but the problem is that it's the wrong oil (Castrol GPS for 4 stroke engines) But people said that it will work fine. I think that I'll buy Castrol MTX which is made for 2t engines. The two stroke oil that I bought was supposed to be the best, Castrol TTS.
Well, anyways I changed the oil and the bike worked better I think, but it was harder to find the netrual, if you guys know what I mean. Maybe it's the oil, I'm not sure.
And regarding the vibrations, someone told me that I should take off the spark plug and then pour two stroke oil in the cylinder head, around 6-7 drops. Could this be the reason why the bike vibrates? He said that the oil on the spark plug/cylinder head is dry since it has been standing for 7 years, but again I don't know.
It could also be the engine mounts since the previous owner changed the engine and god knows how good he put it back.
Or it could be my bottom end bearings since It's equipped with a 160 cc polini kit. I have no idea. But the bike vibrates too much.
It could also be the balancer shaft, but I have no idea how to check it or how to fix it. Someone also said something about a crankcase, I have no idea what that is.
I haven't got any experiences of 125 cc two stroke sportbikes but my Mito seems like it's slow. I didn't rev it much though, around 6 k rpms. It pulls but not that much as I thought it should.
But maybe it needs more reving. Or it could be something wrong with it, for instance the power valve or something that doesn't open.
The problem is that we don't know how a mito works, we haven't heard one and I'm like the only one with a Mito in my city (Gothenburg). I'm in a difficult situation.
Any help is needed.
Thanks |

You mentioned changing the oil and using 2 stroke oil.
2 stroke oil goes in a transparent bottle, normally under the seat or fuel tank. You never change it, just keep the bottle topped up.
You change the gearbox oil occasionally - this is like changing the oil on a car, you undo the sump plug, drain the contents, refill with 4 stroke oil.
2 stroke oil for the engine, 4 stroke oil the gearbox.
It will feel slow below 6krpm, they peak up around 8k. Its a 2 stroke, thrash it.
125s vibrate, and if its got a 160 kit its going to vibrate more. Live with it.
Make sure you have some 2 stroke oil in the bottle before riding it. If you've been riding it with no oil in the bottle, you've ruined the engine. |

Well my friend, I think that you're wrong since there are 2 stroke engine oils for gearboxes/engines, so why would 4 stroke engine oil suit 2 stroke engines? This one: https://www.proformanceusa.com/castrol/castrol_mtx_transmission.htm
And yes, I've filled the regular 2 stroke oil under the tank... For this I used Castrol TTS: https://www.castrolauto.com/products/productpage.asp?product_category=5&product_id=34
This bike is really vibrating... the windshield and the tachometres and the front wheel vibrates, you can see it. Especially when you give it a little gas up to say around 3-4000 rpms. Over that it doesn't vibrate that much. |

Same thing, different name, make money from people who don't know difference. Probably. |
I can only tell you that when I changed the oil a few days ago, I poured Castrol GPS 4 stroke oil the gearbox felt strange. Really hard when you press it in neutral, like if it's in 1st gear. Feels wrong. |

Hi
Cagiva just say to use Agip Super F1 15W50 oil, which I think is a normal 4 stroke engine oil. Some companies do make specific oils for 2 stroke gearboxes which is probably what you have got. However I don't know if it is a suitable weight for the Mito.
I would check that all the engine mounts are tight as these could well cause vibration. Also the balance shaft could be set up wrongly. Best to download a copy of the manual and check. However the big bore kit could well cause vibration as the piston is likely to be heavier than the standard one.
Performance wise it is a highly tuned 2 stroke. At low revs it will nto have much go at all. Warm it up properly and then rev it hard and it will go well. Our old Cagiva Freccia (same engine as an early Mito) only started to make power at 9500rpm.
All the best
