Need to remove the OEM chain from 00’ Monster 750, and there doesn’t appear to be a master link.

Can i still drill a rivet out?

Essentially, I’m looking for a way to remove the chain without removing any suspension linkage or the swingarm etc.

Caveat; no access to a proper chain removal tool.

You can grind the heads off the rivers and replace that link with a new rivet link. If you're replacing the chain just cut right through it. Either way you'll need a chain tool to rivet it back on though unless the bike is lower powered allowing you to use a clip link. The cheap DID stylr tools are fine for riveting but generally don't stand up to removing pins.

How are you intending to put it back together again / put a new one on? I wouldn't even consider using a clippy-link on tthat bike.

Grind off the end of a rivet and tap through to remove, buy some hollowed tip rivets, have mushroomed these with a brick, ball bearing and hammer before. Not recommended practice though... Laughing

If it takes less time to cut the chain with a hacksaw than it takes to plug in an angle grinder then you're doing something wrong. Razz
