What's the "best" way to keep a stoppy rolling??

I can get the wheel relatively high according to Hustler, but I can only roll for about a meter or so... The R6 does it nice and smoothly and quite easy, just not very far. The WR is kind of difficult due to spongy brakes, but furthest I've managed is a couple of meters!

Anyone got any tips to keep the wheel up? I do it from varying speeds but still struggle, Are you meant to feather the brake off once the wheel is up or do you have to do it quicker and let the speed your traveling at keep the wheel off the ground?

You should first give it a good firm squeeze to get the back up in a quick movement, then let off a bit of pressure once it's high enough to balance and roll along, adjusting the lever pressure if the back starts to drop/rise.

If you just keep the brakes pressed on, you'll stop. That's what they're there for Razz

It really is just a case of practising and finding the amount of pressure you need to keep on the lever, to little and it comes down, too much and you stop or flip over the front. As Korn said, the pressure needed to keep the rear up is less then is needed to get it high initally, just experiment carefully. Thumbs Up

I think that's where I'm going wrong, I feather the brake nicely which seems to work well for stoppying to a complete stop but must not get the back up quick enough for rolling.

I'll give it a go when the bikes back on the road Thumbs Up

As Korn said.
Presuming you got good tyres, a sharp initial pull. When I'm really high I tend to 'modulate' the brake a bit... like I do with the throttle in a wheely to keep it about the same height.

It's best if you can do them without this, but initially at least you will probably have to.
If you start to get confident, becarefull... the balance point is remarkably easy to find!

Same as what they said really ^

Could be your speed?

Sounds like you're going far too slowly. If you get your bike up to 50-60mph and hit the brakes you should roll them nicely, but remember at this speed it comes up quickly so hit the brakes then release some pressure whilst still holding the brake tightly.

That's the way I learnt them on the sr and have started on the Hornet.

Yea, Embarassed, was gonna mention the speed.

Once you are confident, build your speed up and it aint too much of a problem to do them from 90-100. Get plenty of distance even on low ones then.

I think speed is my problem, I don't go that fast at all (Fastest I've tried from is about 40 on the R6 Embarassed) bollocks to 100mph! Surprised

WR I don't go nearly as fast as I should do then, I'll try it next week but a bit faster Thumbs Up

Other thing is donuts, how the F**k do you do them Surprised I can do donuts off the bike, walking it around and can do rolling burnouts too but donuts just seem difficult. Any tips?

I'll try to post a video tonight that done Sunday, I tried donut in car park but nearly dropped it Laughing Laughing

find some grass then you dont have spinning up issues, allot easy and will get the hang of balencing with very slipper rear wheel Thumbs Up lean forward allllllot

try rolling stoppying down hills, dont need to go that fast at all on a motard and with the hight it should come up well easy. Just be aware of teh forks diving about can realy confuse your hight and will end up re-applying due to delay Shocked at some point lol

Yeah but the front wheel won't stay put so surely you can't do burnout on it?

If I do that I'll just slide for a bit then fall flat on face Laughing

Just make sure you keep the front wheel rolling and 'play' with the steering i.e. don't hold the bike in one place and put it on full lock. You'll get it in the end put you will drop it quite often whilst practicing.

you dont want the front to stay when doing a circle, you need to be moving forward slowly.

Ps on grass this will end up in quite a wide circle cos you cant use front brake allot but allo safer to practise/get the hang

(and i ant got the power to do it on tarmac Embarassed )
