Warning buzzer for lights left on
Has anyone done this to their bike before? Like what you get on most cars.
None of my other bikes drained the battery if the lights switch was left on but my most recent purchase, my 1999 FZS600, will keep the lights on full even with the keys removed. Came out one morning to a flat battery. Haven't done it since but paranoid about doing it. Was thinking of fitting a warning buzzer.
Most automotive relays are NO (normally open) and only complete the circuit when there is power to the coil. I figure a warning buzzer could be installed using a NC (normally closed) relay, using a feed from maybe the sidelights or the dipped beam to power the coil which controls power to the buzzer???
Any thoughts on this or anyone done it before? ____________________

Indeed. I have done this. Twice accidentally taking the key out whilst it was in the Park position. What a tool. ____________________ CBT: 12/06/10, Theory: 22/09/10, Module 1: 09/11/10, Module 2: 19/01/11

LOL thanks for your kind comments guys (doggone, Blurredman, Evil Hans, Baffler186 and to a lesser extent The Shaggy D.A.). Clearly GT200Fan79 just has it in for me because he has autistiphobia and is a vile repugnant troll.
Yes new bike, new to biking in general, the time it drained the battery was in broad daylight, didn't even see the P on the ignition barrel, didn't even think a bike would have a P position on it to be honest! Bikes having this for the past 40 years has clearly eluded me thus far as I haven't even been alive that long and only been biking less than about 6 months
Actually just found out by accident today while warming the bike up for an oil, oil filter and clutch plates change when I accidentally knocked the key while it was in the ignition with the engine running and it came out of the barrel with the engine still running. Could probably start this bike with a screwdriver???!!! Probably not the cleverest of ideas to advertise this on here but who in their right mind is going to go the the effort of stealing a 20 year old wreck that has crashed more times than a Sinclair ZX81? Maybe someone on here might do out of pure spite and hatred towards autistboi. Got a hefty chain for it though |
